We used Pike Insurance for several years for our commercial general liability policy, and our…read moreexperience ended very poorly due to a lack of communication and accountability. When our policy was originally set up, our estimated gross receipts were listed at $100,000 because we were unsure of projected revenue. Over multiple policy periods, our policy was audited several times and each audit showed our actual revenue was significantly higher. We paid the additional premiums each time, and because our premiums increased after each audit, we reasonably believed our policy exposure had been adjusted accordingly moving forward. That was not the case. Despite multiple audits clearly showing much higher revenue, the policy continued to renew year after year with the same $100,000 estimate. At no point were we clearly informed that this estimate remained unchanged or that it could result in substantial additional premiums later. After the most recent audit, we were billed approximately $9,800 in additional premium. When we attempted to get clarification and request a review with the carrier, communication from our agent and their supervisor became extremely poor. Multiple emails went unanswered for extended periods, even while the account was being pushed toward collections by the audit company. We ultimately paid a reduced amount of $8,400 simply to avoid further escalation. It is important to note that this discounted amount was offered by the audit firm, not Pike Insurance. The most frustrating part of this experience was not the audit itself, but the lack of responsiveness when we needed assistance. As a client, we expected communication and guidance, especially given the history of prior audits. That did not happen. If you work with this agency, do not assume anything is being updated or handled behind the scenes. Review every detail of your policy yourself, every single year. We hope Pike Insurance takes steps to improve communication and accountability with their clients.

I had a great State Farm agent/team when I lived in Las Vegas and then I was transferred to a new State Farm agent when I moved out to SD about two years ago, who was fine up until the last few months (when we really needed him). My husband and I purchased a condo back in September and we had setup to have mortgage insurance through State Farm (of course) in addition to adding my husband's car insurance to State Farm instead of Progressive. It is with these needs that I started having issues with responsiveness and request fulfillment from my SD State Farm agent/team. So, after multiple unanswered emails, unreturned phone calls, no changes made, and a little research I requested to switch to Kathy Dottore as my State Farm agent. Trevor, a member of Kathy's team, replied to my initial email in a timely manner and let me know he would be in touch the next day, which I appreciated. Today, Trevor got more accomplished in an hour than my last agent's team had in 3 months. Not to mention that he also discovered that my previous State Farm agent had never finalized the homeowner's insurance policy on the condo we've owed since September. (Um, excuse me!? You're gonna to have to repeat that.) YIKES!!!
