We shared the smoked burrata appetizer; the smokiness was just amazing, and so fresh; perfect with the fresh bread at the table. For primo I had the carbonara with hot peppers; we also had the parpardelle with black truffles. So many truffles you could smell the dish yards away. Wonderful wonderful meal. If you're near Soave you owe it to yourself to go (45 minutes from Vincenza.

Il Drago is nestled in the town of Soave and has a delightful menu of pastas, beef carpaccio, gnocchi, and salads. I ordered the black truffled tagliatelle. It was the perfect portion and cooked to perfection. The black truffles were very thinly sliced and earthy. The pasta was a perfect al dente....It was literally the best pasta I've eaten. After both of those stops, once you've worked up an appetite, head to the bottom corner of the old town for lunch (or dinner, if you got a later start to the day) at Al Gambero! Their house wine, served in glass carafes, is wonderful and you can't go wrong with any of the primi dishes. My favorite is the gnocchi with pumpkin, sausage and smoked ricotta. I think their menu may change seasonally, so don't be too heart broken if you visit outside of the fall and the pumpkin isn't available. But really, pick any of their pastas and you're sure to love your meal!

The Enoteca Realdo is located within a bulky hotel complex and the only modern venue in town, which explains the hype about the place to me. We tried to eat at the enoteca twice and both times had a bad experience with the staff and the way they treated us. The first time we went there, the kitchen was still closed (opens at 7:30pm) and we were told to return an hour later while about 6 other guests were eating at the table next to us and were served wine... At our second trial was two days later. We arrived after 8pm and were told no tables are available. This caught us by surprise since 80% of the tables were empty and people were eating and drinking in the enoteca again. Both times we were running into super arrogant staff although we stayed friendly and even started the conversation in Italian. In summary a very displeasing experience and the reason I rather recommend "Enoteca El Drago" in old town or "Pizzeria Scagliera" next door where you can be sure to be greeted warmly and feel welcome! - Unprofessional service, - not recommended!

The Rasta was the unanimous winner. We had 4 big plates of pasta (I am a 240 lb American - it was a legit big plate), one dessert to share (chocolate cake recommended by server - great, but rich), a liter of house red wine (good), and a liter of water.
