Met promptly after a call with Chad re a new gate, gave him a check for one half of the amount and after 7 weeks began to call, leave messages regarding the status and occasionally over time, the promised dates of installation were ignored with no explanation. Is there any recourse? read more

We chose Dakota Fence to install a vinyl fence. We were sharing one side with our neighbor. Dakota came in with a good estimate and we decide to choose their company. After paying more than the asked deposit, we received an email a month later saying that if we wanted to have an installation date with our neighbor, we needed to pay the original estimate, even though we already did. After talking with Denise, they had found our check that we had sent in. We had booked in June of 2020 (during COVID) and understood that things were backed up. We were estimated that our fence would be in no later than October 2020. October came and past and we received an email from Denise saying that they were behind. We were grateful for the communication and understood that these were hard times. After no communication after that, our neighbor had emailed a few more times and they were still running behind. The neighbor got many communications from Chad (owner of the business) but we received none. Our neighbor asked if he was communicating with us and Chad said, no, they are not on my list. Finally, at the beginning of December, we received an email saying that they would install next Monday or Tuesday. They also informed us, for the first time, that they do not take away the dirt dug up from post installation. This was the first we had heard about this - wished we would've known when we got the estimate because many other companies do take away dirt. Monday and Tuesday came and went and they did not come. We talked to our neighbor and they said they got a phone call from Chad saying it would be next week. We were a little irritated that our neighbors were communicated with but not us, once again. I called Chad and asked for a phone call and he did call back that night. The fence installation happened the next week and the fence looks good. The lack of communication throughout the process and the dirt transportation would have us suggest going with another company. read more

We were looking to replace our wood fence with vinyl. We put the job out for bid to 4 different contractors and Dakota fence was by far the friendliest, most informative & one of the least expensive. When we decided to go with them, the customer service from Denise was great from the start. She reached out with follow up questions to be sure we received exactly what we wanted. They answered all our questions promptly and professionally. When it came time to install the fence, Chad made sure they were there when they said they would be and did a wonderful job being clean, efficient and detailed. They removed our old fence and put posts in the ground in less than a day. After a few days, they came back out and finishing installing the fence in about 1/2 day. My wife happened to be home and had a couple of questions for them. The workers were very friendly and answered her questions. They also lowered the fence a bit just to be sure our small dog would not fit underneath it! That was unexpected and very much appreciated. The final product looks amazing and all the gates open & close with ease... Fantastic job Dakota Fence & Deck. I will absolutely recommend you to anyone I know looking for a new fence. read more

My builder recommended Dakota Deck and Fence because they do quality work. The quality of my fence is decent; however, the lack of communication & unexpected delays were very frustrating. Four weeks after posts were placed, my fence was delayed further, due to a more profitable project taking longer than expected. To add to frustration Chad did not have the common courtesy to update me on delays. He stated he was having conversations with my builder yet I had already closed on my house and I contacted Dakota (Chad)directly several times to install fence, not builder. Fence was installed 5 weeks after post were set but gate was defective. I received no communication on why no gate was installed. After leaving Chad several messages, I finally talked with him to be told "he can't help it if gate was defective!" The product was being supplied by Dakota and I understand it maybe delivered defective but not calling and informing me why it wasn't installed was unacceptable by this point. The gate was finally installed a week and half later. Our fence was installed in the Spring and yes there were some weather delays beyond anyone's control but not having open and honest conversations with customers is unprofessional. If you are looking for a quality fence but have no concern about timelines or open communication Dakota Fence is your company. read more
