I've been to Dakak a few times before around 2009 for a photo shoot for Miss Dapitan (not a contestant, but a photographer). In short, it wasn't for pleasure. This last visit, however, was for fun with my family. At first I was hesitant to take everybody here due to a spendy daily tour fee (Php 1,000 or $20 depends on how much USD to Php conversion), but that fee is consumable. You can use it in any of their restaurants and in any of their water/air activities. They have very friendly crews in the resort, although our server seemed to get our orders wrong, but the customer service she provided to us was unbelievable--5 stars to her. Overall, our experience was unforgettable even if we got there with a bad weather (storm). We'll definitely come back!

We usually stayed at villa angelina when we come home for vacation but we dine at dakak most of thr time and the service wass good and the staff is very warm. Our recent day trip to dakak for 8 people had some issues. We were charge 1200 PHP per person but the beach staff decline to provide us beach towels saying this basic beach amenity is for check in guest only. There were no lounge chair available at the beach. I asked the staff to reconsider, the staff response seem unreasonable. He seem like too underpaid to give a f@ck. The jet ski seems overpriced 3000 php for 3000 PHP. The food is not as good and has limited option unlike last year. Overall, we had great time swimming , kayaking and jet skiing though. I just thought that a beach towel is a basic amenity and should be provided . read more
What was once the jewel of Dapitan City (it hosted the Miss Universe pageant in the early '90s), Dakak is now a shadow of it's former self. Still wildly popular among tourists around the world (their advertising budget must be through the roof), the main draw here is their beautiful white sand beach right off of the Sulu Sea. It's absolutely gorgeous! Other than that, this place is what Cher Horowitz would call a 'full-on Monet.' Everything is beautiful from far away but it's really a total mess when you get closer. Our bungalow smelled damp when we walked in and there were ants in the bathroom. The shower drain was clogged and the other amenities just seemed old and tired. We were luckily only here for one day but we were very unimpressed with their lunch and breakfast. Their open air restaurant was almost overrun by birds (can you get a scarecrow or something?!?) and the food and service just was not what to par to what I would equate with a nice resort. We were mostly there to bond with family which made the experience great but if I came here for vacation, I'd be disappointed. It's big, impersonal..but boy their beach is beautiful. read more

Cool place if going to the Philippines. Great Golf course. The villas overlooking the sea are nice.

This is a mixed review because a lot of our stay was great but a lot wasn't. Check in was a disaster. We had a large group and it seems to take forever to get checked in. They seemed very disorganized and in the heat of mid day my patience was thin. They sent a girl out with complimentary drinks after I expressed my frustration I'm the lobby. Upon getting our keys I was happy they had a small fridge but was disappointed to find the contents warm. I called the desk to report the trouble and they sent a guy to plug it in. Of course it takes hours to cool down, so I had to go elsewhere for a cold drink. The beach was awesome and due to it being the weekend before school started it was not very busy. The following Monday we practically had this beautiful beach to ourselves. I took a drone flight over the cove this day and will upload it to YouTube so you can see how lovely. The rooms though are definitely on the rough side. Tiles need to be replaced and the tank lid to our toilet was too big and you could not fully open the seat. For as many people working the grounds you would think they would do a better job at cleaning the rooms. There was dusk all over the top shelves and cobwebs in the corners. The restaurant had a good buffet the first day but then went to plate service after. Didn't seem like as much of a value as breakfast was included and in the price of our room and was supposed to be a500p value per person. Service was slow and we waited a while for coffee even though we ordered it right away. The Il Italia restaurant had great service but the food was just okay. We really enjoyed the pool food and drinks. They were very cheap. I hope the neighboring villas finish construction and they revamp the Villas here. read more
