Our recent day trip to dakak for 8 people had some issues. We were charge 1200 PHP per person but the beach staff decline to provide us beach towels saying this basic beach amenity is for check in guest only. There were no lounge chair available at the beach. I asked the staff to reconsider, the staff response seem unreasonable. He seem like too underpaid to give a f@ck. The jet ski seems overpriced 3000 php for 3000 PHP. The food is not as good and has limited option unlike last year. Overall, we had great time swimming , kayaking and jet skiing though. I just thought that a beach towel is a basic amenity and should be provided .

Still wildly popular among tourists around the world (their advertising budget must be through the roof), the main draw here is their beautiful white sand beach right off of the Sulu Sea. It's absolutely gorgeous! Other than that, this place is what Cher Horowitz would call a 'full-on Monet.' Everything is beautiful from far away but it's really a total mess when you get closer. Our bungalow smelled damp when we walked in and there were ants in the bathroom. The shower drain was clogged and the other amenities just seemed old and tired. We were luckily only here for one day but we were very unimpressed with their lunch and breakfast. Their open air restaurant was almost overrun by birds (can you get a scarecrow or something?!?) and the food and service just was not what to par to what I would equate with a nice resort. We were mostly there to bond with family which made the experience great but if I came here for vacation, I'd be disappointed. It's big, impersonal..but boy their beach is beautiful.

The view was absolutely DIVINE! (see what I did there? ;) We were greeted by a modest picture of an open concept structure. However as you draw near, you know that the simplicity was a perfect complement to the peaceful nature it rests upon. The nice breeze and sound of the sea welcomes your approach. What greets you in the lobby is the breathtaking view of the infinity pool leading towards the sea. My son loved it so much he quickly asked if he can jump in, and that he did. He stayed there the entire day I might add. Conveniently the rooms (all 9 of them) were just a few steps from the pool so it was not so hard to keep an eye out for him. The rooms are no suite but are adequately sized for a family of 3. They were clean with everything we needed. Surprisingly the beds and the linen sheets were hotel grade and yes I can tell they are because when you're pregnant you tend to be very picky and observant for such comforts. They even have a common kitchen but hardly used it. There is a restaurant nearby though so food wasn't an issue. Service was superb, staff - friendly, made us feel right at home. Apparently this location is close to adventures and tourist attractions. Kawasan Falls, Canyoneering and Sardine Run were just a few minutes away as we were told. Our intent was to go Whale Shark Watching in a neighbouring town, Oslob. Their staff was very accommodating to help us with arrangements. Oh and their English is superb so no worries in communication. The cherry on top to this beautiful place was the stunning sunsets as the days end. I wish I have words to describe the feeling when you see it but you will just have to be there to see and experience it for yourself. Memories were indeed made.

In the Lagoon, there is kayaking, fishing (catch and release with bamboo poles) in the pond. Small fish, they will give you bread to bait the hooks. Service was exceptional! Very memorable occasion. It almost reminds me of Hawaii. It's best to have an agent book this activity or resort stay for you. When you come to this meet up place, you lounge around by the beach, they give you free iced tea and watch a video introduction before taking a 30 min boat to the island. The boat ride can be choppy and I would sit in the back of the boat so you won't be spattered with water. There is an entrance fee to do some activities on Sumilon Island or stay a few nIghts in this small island. It's great for relaxation to just swim in the clear blue water, kayaking, paddle boating, snorkeling, trekking or swimming in their small pool. There restaurant buffet is pretty good with all the exotic foods from the Philippines and some others. The staff from the boat to the people on the island were helpful, friendly and very accommodating. I would totally recommend to visit the Sumilon island. [7/100]

How to Get There: We took a Ceres bus with Bayawan signage and asked the conductor to drop us off the corner to El Dorado. Fare was ₱19.00 and trip took about 20 minutes. Don't worry about missing the dropoff as it is pretty common and the conductor will tell you when you're there. Getting Inside Entrance fee is ₱200/person but is consumble. This gives you access to the beach as well as the restaurant. Keep your ticket as the restaurant staff will ask for it before taking your order. What to Do Inside Take pictures, lots of it. Head straight to their mini Boracay and start snapping like crazy. You'll see Apo Island from a far so pose and be ready to capture the moment. You can swim either on the pool or at the beach. It wasn't a great time to swim when we visited because of the strong ocea waves. The pool is smallish but is hot enough so you can dive into it without regretting your decision the moment you're in the water. Eat Eat Eat El Dorado Beach Resort has a full-kitchen so you'll have no problem with food. We ordered the pork chop and the one with cheese, gravy, and mushroom (forgot the name) and they were two of the best tasting dish we've tried (no kidding!). We also were offered complimentary salad and that too was awesome! When visiting, it's best to check in so you get to enjoy añl the amenities.
