My husband and I stayed here for a midway stop on the Natchez Trace and loved it. The owner, Carol,…read morewas the best-such a wonderful personality. She had all the answers to all our questions about Houston, the Trace and nearby attractions. I loved the house and her fantastic antiques. The rooms we saw were decorated very nicely. All the rooms are upstairs so she had a table set up with a coffee maker and cups on that floor for those of us who like coffee the minute we wake. There was also a small cooler of soft drinks with a small basket of snacks and bottles of water close by. I thought our room was very quiet, especially being on the front corner facing both streets. The breakfast was a very good Southern one with biscuits, grits, scrambled eggs, potato casserole, bacon and sausage. We didn't eat again til dinner. The only thing negative was the room not having its own thermostat. We like a very cold room to sleep in and ours could have been a little cooler. Other than that our stay was perfect. We will definitely be back

We have plenty of room for bicycles for those biking the Natchez Trace Parkway or the Tanglefoot Trail that begins in Houston.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn express for one night on a business trip. I had to change rooms because…read morethe water was not working in the bathroom sink. The woman at the front desk was really nice and offered me a larger room and some free snacks. The next morning I went to get breakfast before going to the workout room to do some cardio. The server up-charged me ($11) for a small bowl of fruit stating that the amount she put was equivalent to two bowls. Then, the bartender kept being very rude asking if my fruit was "perfect enough this time" and kept trying to get my attention in a very hostile manner. The bartender proceeded to mock me for taking a picture of my fruit bowl. Side note- the bartender looked like she was about 60 years old. The maturity level was absent. The Thursday morning breakfast crew were very unprofessional, unaccommodating, hostile, and belligerent. I would recommend learning better customer service skills.

I stay in soooo many hotels every year and never write reviews but enough is enough…read more Unfortunately my trust in others reviews for hotels has seriously let me down. My main focus for any hotel is cleanliness. The lobby looked liked it was maintained well enough but the outside building could be maintained better. Our room had black bug on the carpet. First thing I noticed but I would have actually let that slide if the bathroom wasnt so bad. It needs to be completly renovated. The porcelain is peeling and coming up in the corners and there was so much mold on the ceiling that I felt bad letting my kids shower in there. The front desk employee was nice and Im sure breakfast will be fine. The washers and dryers were also pretty inexpensive. What I care about the most is a clean or newly rennovated room though and it didnt happen here.
