I walked in Lil' Chet's to witness a young man vacuuming the floor, a very kind, patient and broad smiling young lady named Grace who wore the business brand well and then a taller, young man at the cash register and three other younger associates all busy at their post. I always thank people who are working these days but I'll go as far to say these associates were raised right. Bravo to whoever hired so many good workers. Now the Chicken. I walk To the back of the store and there it is.....a trove of fried chicken. I can't tell you how many people I know rave about this fried chicken. They say "it's the best around". I have driven past this place so many times, usually with somewhere to go. This time someone took the wheel and steered me straight in their lot. So I go in to see what all the fuss is about. Grace explained the difference of the chicken selection was. Just to sample, I opted for two thighs and one breast for beef and my wife with a side of sweet mustard. Got home to try it....Rats! I should have bought more.... The chicken was done right. Crispy, not greasy. In fact, if I had to rush out of the house, I know I could turn the doorknob with out washing the grease off my fingers. Breasts were not dry, thighs were tender, better than average in size and the mustard dip had a familiar taste to it but just enough off to make me consider it wasn't store bought and repackaged. This is a smaller gas station but is conveniently located right by the highway (few others are in the area). They have limited inventory in terms of travel supplies. I was very surprised to find housewares like pots, coffee makers, and other necessities. There was even a roaster available! I have not seen them at other Pilot Centers. The grab & go had various options (mainly fried chicken and burgers) even at the end of the day. There was also sufficient seating to enjoy your meal. There are a few minor issues such as non-working ATM and this store not really being the cleanest. I have to say that the service is consistently friendly here. I base this off multiple visits. Overall, stop in for a quick fill-up or to rest during your travel. Don't expect the full Pilot experience but expect to have the most important basics.
