Kim Martin was our realtor. When we first met Kim Martin she told my spouse and I that she ran on Montana time. That no one is on time in Montana.
From the start she tried different ways of trying to force me to talk. I am normally quiet and observant in new situations. Kim tried the girlfriend personality with me. I was uncomfortable as I had no idea who this woman was, (if she was my friend she would've known that I like peace, quiet, and simplicity).
My spouse had set a certain limit for finding a home when we first met Kim. While viewing homes she tried to imply I should tell my spouse to raise our limit. My spouse and I work together. It would not be Kim who would pay our bills. It would be mostly me.
When we found a home she tried to talk me out of it. Kim told us the house was listed for ten days. My spouse corrected her and said it had been listed for months. She told me in detail that the things I liked about the house were negatives.
When we signed at the title company, Kim and the title company employee kept chatting away. They would not be quiet. When my spouse asked a question it was as if their off topic conversation was interrupted a couple of times. At the signing my spouse asked if everything was covered by the home protection warranty. Kim and the title company employee both said yes.
Weeks into living in our new home I smelt smoke. It was the dishwasher. Then the ice machine on the fridge stops, and our washer machine stops in the middle of a cycle. I called the home warranty company and I was told only the dishwasher would be covered so I called Kim and she told me very rudely that she was not a repair person and no one knows what the future is going to be like. I guess this was Kim's way of not admitting she lied when she told us the other realtor ordered our home protection warranty. We saw on the home protection warranty she was the order source.
I still remained polite. I took it to mean that since I did not royally screw my spouse into a mortgage that would break us she did not care since her commission wouldn't be so high.
I should not have to explain that Kim did a ton of bragging about her life. I got the impression it was meant to make me think I need those same things starting with a more expensive house. Or maybe my mentioning I grew up in southern California made her feel the need to sound important???
Every time we looked at a house Kim was also never less than fifteen minutes late, (Montana time!).
I used to work long hours. Only difference is I had LA traffic to drive through. So I understand that having a family while working can be tough. Yet it is not a reason to try to trick people into a house they cannot afford or even want.
In the end we are happy with our small inexpensive home. We got the warranty coverage we were told we had. It was a long hassle!
She later tried to act nice to my spouse when asking that he let the home warranty go if she had our ice maker repaired. If I had to say a few things about Kim it would be... obnoxious, over bearing, sneaky, greedy, and fake.
All we wanted was to find a home and move in. It happened, but it was stressful. read more
