On August 27th, 2022, I hosted a backyard birthday party for my husband and 50 friends for which I had rented a craps table and blackjack table from "Dad's". The equipment was delivered the day before by two college students who assembled it. On the night of my party, the craps table fell apart, with the large wooden side panel hitting a party guest as it dropped to the patio below, hitting her food (in a sandal) and a metal nail badly cut her. The party guest had to go to the urgent care for stitches and x-ray. For the remainder of the night, the craps table could only be used without the broken side panel. The other side panel, on the side where the dealer stood, also threatened to fall. This equipment is dangerous. I wrote an incident report to the company after and Daniel, who is in this Yelp listing as the owner, emailed me back that he let "Brandi" know about my issues. No one ever responded to me. I believe Dad's subleased my contract to another party who fulfilled the order with old and dangerous equipment. However I cannot verify that as no one ever had the respect to contact me back. The best time i've had playing poker yet! This isn't just a normal run of the mil business running it. Who truly made my night was Kat. At the end of the night whoever had the most chips got a main prize. Now I didn't know the best strategy to play black jack but Kat not only helped me out but everyone else at the table got little call sign from her to say if we should hit on our cards or not. She really helped out everyone at the table! I normally am not interested in playing poker but dang was this way more fun for everyone at my table. We had hosted our company holiday party at the LAX Marriott. They arrived on time for the set-up, communicated prior to the event and followed our itinerary. There were about 80 guests and were able to accommodate all of us (or those who were interested). The dealers were so much fun! Loved how conversational they were and how good they were at putting people at ease. People with inexperience were able to enjoy themselves as much as experienced players. Shoutout to Mike! The most unprofessional outfit I've seen in a while. They send some kid who looks about 19 as a dealer, doesn't know how to deal Texas hold em' or 5 card stud! Charged us $500 for a taco bar, no salsa, no beans, no rice. Ran out of onions and cilantro, which was the only condiment they brought after 10 guests got tacos. They even stole our power surge strip and even after talking to the owner the next day who swore they'd bring it back along with our $10 overpayment on the deposit.....never happened. Set Up Crew: Arrived on time, set up very fast, professional Equipment: Poker tables looked very beat up, numbers on felt are faded, some cup holders missing. Chairs looked old. Roulette table very faded and scratched. Dealers: Arrived on time. I was greeted by a gentleman who was the head dealer, I explained to him that I had printed out the play money and expressed my plans for the raffle drawings. I was a little frustrated because I felt that all the ideas I had in mind did not work for him, I know he had probably been doing this for a long time so I went along with his suggestions. But then I ended up doing the drawing on my own. The head dealer had no raffle tickets with him, which surprised me because they were supposed to be included in the package purchased. I had to purchase my own from the dollar store down the street. I also never received any of the "Free" goodies or comedy passes that came with the package deal. As the evening started the head dealer asked me if I would provide drink tokens for the rest of the dealers, I handed him enough tokens for all of the dealers. Through out the night as I mingled with my guest I was approached by 3 different dealers asking for drink tokens. I gave them all the same response, that I had given them to Doug and they all said the same thing, they never were given any, and it seemed as if they were hesitant to ask him for them and expected me to do it for them. When I approached Doug about the tokens he stated he did not want to give them to the dealers directly because one of them was an alcoholic?? I think it was inappropriate and that I had to be approached 3 different times in front of my guest. For the most part all of the dealers did have very good personality's and definitely entertained the table guest. The craps table was the favorite table of the night. I called Daniel who is the main contact you speak to when you set up a booking to express my dissatisfaction and he requested I email him something in writing, I did so and to this day have not received a response from him. I would never recommend this company to anyone. They overcharged us and when I spoke to the owner Daniel he tried to assess extra fees and was extremely unprofessional in his correspondence. THIS IS NOT ONE... but this company will break your heart. 3yrs ago I hired Dads for a Casino night Birthday party for my wife. Long story short, they brought regular tables when I ordered deluxe !! Coming all the way from San Bern and im in Burbank, it was too late to get the right tables before the party. Recently, I tried them again understanding accidents happen, and Daniel D, the owner himself, promised me to make up for it with upgraded tables this time. Awesome I thought. Right... the pics are of my "Upgraded Craps Table". Wtf ?? Then... they sent over an led Roulette table !! Cool.... but forgot the battery pack. Then... my extra dealer. Yupp you guessed it... never came. After calling Daniel at Dads his response was.... "I know I promised the other stuff, but you got what was on the contract. The pre-event communication was horrible and I was not able to see the tables before the event. That made me nervous considering some of the reviews I've read. Two days before the event I got a call from the San Deigo representive and he was very nice and put my mind at ease. The day of the event they showed up later than they told me they would which made my coordinator nervous. As for the event time, everyone had fun and for the price you pay, you get wha you pay for. The tables look nice to me and some look brand new. One of the dealers did have trouble counting so that slowed things down a bit. read more

This company was so disappointing. Starting with the setup, they showed up completely unprepared. We also paid for a taco bar. The tacos were just okay at best. We had 75 people. There was supposed to be enough food for 100, and they ran out. There was NO onions, cheese, rice or beans. After calling around, we found $500 was so over priced for just tacos. The salsa was store bought and we had to provide all the bowls and plates for the setup. As for the employees, some of the dealers were young, uneducated and didn't even know the rules of basic poker. I know, it sounds crazy, but it's 100% true. I have to admit that I was a bit nervous hiring Dad's Poker to do our Casino Night event at the Doubletree Hotel when I saw the bad reviews. I kept in touch with Daniel the owner several times prior to the event just to ensure things would go well. On the night of the event, everything went exceedingly well. Seven tables and seven dealers were provided. We had almost 90 people attend so the 7 tables were just perfect. All the dealers were very personable, friendly, and patiently taught and guided the novices. Dexter the head dealer was a true gentleman. We provided our own buffet tables and bar. Great time! We completely enjoyed having a casino party last weekend for a Birthday Celebration. Our group was 25 adults. We had 3 tables (roulette, Craps and Blackjack) and this was perfect for our size group (and for reference, could have easily accommodated another 10 people or so). The guests were a range from age 25 - 85 and everyone got involved and had a great time. We were impressed that the cards were in good shape, the chips were plentiful and the dealers were pleasant, helpful and added to the overall experience. Keith, Michael and Isi were kind to our guests, helped them to "learn" while they played and they were courteous to us as Hosts. Our ONLY reason for missing out on 5-star rating was that they arrived a bit late after we were very specific about a "start time". But there may have been a last minute problem (on their end) that couldn't be avoided. We did not give them grief over this - sometimes things happen. We used Dad's Poker Night for a birthday and anniversary party we threw Memorial Day Weekend. We were very satisfied with the results! The dealers were very friendly and made for a great atmosphere. The tables arrived a little later than they had said, but within plenty of time before our guests. The only complaint I would have is that the tables looked a little old and beaten up, which was not a problem for our backyard party, but could be a bit embarrassing if this were a corporate or charity function. If this is an issue for you, please make sure they know when you book. We did not feel that this was a problem for us though. I was researching casino rentals for my Husband's 30th Birthday party. Just trying to contact someone for more information was a task itself. When I finally got a response (weeks later), it was from the rudest and most unprofessional person ever! Literally one or two worded email responses every time! I had to go back and forth a ridiculous amount of times because they didn't know how to carry a conversation. Finally they just stopped responding at all. Thus, when he had trouble looking for the party facility he texted me, which was good because my husband was in the room. John and his partner showed up on time and were professional. I booked this company after reading several great reviews on Yahoo. I have to say I was very disappointed. First off though, the dealers and the bartender Laura were great. The dealers were professional and Laura was fantastic. She even went around the party and took drink orders from my guests. My main complaint is on the condition of the tables and the lack of organization. The delivery guys called and said they would be to my house at 1. They did not arrive until 2:10 which put me way behind schedule. The tables were a complete disaster to put it mildly. They both looked like they were about 30 years old. Even the dust on the tables looked old. Both of them had black duct tape wrapped around the bumpers and lousy patch jobs on tears in the pleather. The edges and legs of the tables were cracked and falling apart. The craps tables had dozens of pieces of felt hanging from the bottom. I was so upset that there was no skirt to at least cover the bottom of the tables that the delivery guys went to party city and bought one. The tables were also very wobbly and threatened to topple whenever someone leaned on them. Then there was the bartender fiasco. And by the way, they don't have a real stand up bar. They bring a 6 foot folding table with black plastic taped to the top. The day before my party I called to confirm everything since I didn't hear from the company. He told me on the phone that I would have a different bartender, not Laura, whom I already had a phone consult with a few weeks prior. When Laura showed up at my house I was surprised but pleased. About 20 minutes later another girl showed up with her boyfriend (?) saying that she was the bartender. Keep in mind that at this point I already have guests and the party has started. She comes in on a walker and is barely able to get around. She was in an accident apparently and was going to have her bf make the drinks for her. Neither even look old enough to drink. At this point both bartenders are going back and forth about which one is supposed to be working the party. It was very unprofessional of this company to send a girl who was obviously in no condition to stand all night and mix drinks. Luckily Laura stayed and the other 2, not happy about driving an hour to my house, left. Overall I was not pleased with this company and will not be using them again or recommending them to anyone. read more

Just used Dad's Poker Night for the rental of some casino tables for a home birthday party. The tables were fine and were ultimately delivered in time for the party, but the logistics and customer service definitely left much to be desired. (Phone calls were not returned for a week because the owner was on vacation?) Unfortunately, from the way that the order, confirmation and follow-up were handled, this company seems to be a very Mom-and-Pop operation. Folks should keep in mind that the website is also not actually reflective of the rentals available (although the company advertises that it offers a variety of tables, the rentals are actually limited to one size of card table only.) I was a bit taken aback that the owner argued with me about this when I was looking directly at the website and being told something different on the phone.
