We were very skeptical and apprehensive about paying him upfront since we had not paid any of our other contractors up front for work that wasn't completed, but we were having a tough time finding a drywaller and made this fateful decision. He did lead us to believe he would start bringing materials over the end of April and give us a definitive start date. Well, that's when all communication ended, and the scam was on.
