Super friendly and helpful! We had a blast kayaking the AuTrain River. This is the third time we've used them.

AMAZING EXPERIENCE!! I am going to list a couple of pros and cons for this place but no matter what…read morecompany you choose, go kayak pictured rocks. Incredible formations of land that you can't see anywhere else. I lived in Michigan for 20 years and had no idea the Upper Peninsula held the treasures we got to see! Pros: -The guides had a ton of energy and were very patient with the people in our group. We had a great group of good listeners and that helped but our guide was also very flexible and let us veer off into the waters without having to stick super close to us. -The time of day that we went really made a difference. We chose the "sunset" tour so we were able to see the pictures rocks around 4-6pm . Though this is not sunset, it was still pretty to see the sun reflecting off the different colors of the rocks and formations. -the ability to just hop on a bus and hop in a kayak without carrying them helped as well. It just made everything really easy and seamless. Cons: -the bus to the launch off site didn't have A/C which was fine, but we just sat there waiting for other buses to unload and I think that could have been done a little differently. It was too hot to have thirty people sweating in a bus. -tour time said 6 hours but we only kayaked for 3.5 which was fine but maybe make it clear on the site that the bus time would take a hour round trip -I also would have suggested just an hour for lunch, being able to get out and eat our lunch on the beach was great but I didn't need to be there for 1.5 hours, I would have rather done a shorter lunch and gotten back sooner Overall, amazing and an outstanding time we had!

Overall, this was a great experience. Our guide, Tanner, was knowledgeable and fun. He was able to…read moretalk to us about the rock formations and made sure to talk to everyone in the group and even learned our names. One of the bases we rode had no AC, which was tough on a hot day, but the ride to the beach was short, so this didn't taint the experience. The kayaking was fun and Pictured Rocks is beautiful. The company is well organized and timely. I recommend this experience.

Otters, ducks & turtles galore along the shores, and a bald eagle flying overhead. It wasn't a mindless ride--we did have to keep eyes out for submerged tree trunks--but for the overwhelming majority of the time, the mild current supported us all the way through with moderate paddling/steering. The water was between 1'-10' deep, so little ones or skittish swimmers should wear a life jacket. Personally, I wouldn't send teens, tweens or younger down this river on their own unless they know how the basics of how to paddle and how to read the water (such as, ripples mean something is under the surface, water plants bend in the direction of the current). Bring water, snacks & sunscreen, and maybe bug repellent (I got two bites but wasn't wearing repellent). We were given very clear directions about where to get out (just after Doucette Bridge, on the right side next to the big sign with their name on it). Our kayaks & paddles were in good working order; we each got a 12' "yellow one."

As for the Chef's Table experience, it's hard to know where to start. Chef Joshua Curtis is charming and approachable without ever dominating - so full of culinary insights and clear descriptions of flavors. He prepared a six course meal just for us. We were extra challenging diners as one of us is vegetarian and the other is not. He accomodated us both seamlessly. Our courses were similar in flavor combinations, just slightly altered so as to incorporate either meat or non-meat options. The man is truly an artist. He guided us through the entire dining adventure with his expertise and his warmth. Each plated dish was unique, satisfying, and beautifully presented. We have been lucky enough to travel to some pretty cool places over the years and dine in some pretty special restaurants. We honestly are having trouble thinking of an evening out that was as special as our evening at The Blue Mystique Inn.

I reserved my experience on their website and received a personal confirmation from Raya via text message in less than 15 minutes. Raya answered all my questions in advance of the event quickly and with great detail. Yooper Yachts was the only company I found that allowed for single kayaks, as I was booking alone and didn't want to be paired with a stranger. My tour was run by Rick and Bob (father/son team) were super friendly and helpful. My group was 7 total kayakers (two tandem kayaks and three singles). We all met at the meet point, and after a short drive and set of instructions, we were in the water. The tour was fantastic. Rick provided a personal touch...learning everyone's names and getting to know them and providing interesting stories about the rock formations and area insights. Rick and Bob could not be nicer and more genuine. They gave us the freedom to roam and explore a bit on our own but were always close by if we needed them. They provided all of the required equipment, which was in great shape. They also had Dramamine available if we needed it. Honestly this is the best experience I could have hoped for in a tour of Pictured Rocks. You can really count on Yooper Yachts, they are very dependable and are a fun outfit!

We were looking for an adventure with our new-ish kayaks. We fortuitously read a Michigan tourism magazine tucked into the Chicago Tribune; the magazine featured a story about kayaking in Les Cheneaux with Woods & Waters. It sounded great! Though we are comfortable on the water, we thought it would be good to have a guide in an area new to us -- and Tim was a perfect guide for our half-day paddle! We learned so much about this beautiful and interesting area, saw an eagle and its nest, did a quick mid-paddle hike to get an amazing view to go with our rock skipping and gained a few kayaking skill tips that will make us better kayakers. It certainly was a bonus that the water and weather cooperated -- water like glass and just enough sun. Tim - thanks for the advice to do the Narnia hike - that was our afternoon adventure! We ended our day at Les Cheneaux Distillers. The day couldn't have been better. We loved our paddle so much and felt comfortable with our newfound knowledge from Tim that we went back for a quick paddle the next morning. We wish we could have stayed on the water all day! Thank you Sue and Tim. We will see you next time!

It's a good hike up in cheese land and I was only expecting maybe a class 2 or 3 (class 6 being the highest). Big surprise when we did a class 4. Sounds scary I know, but I learned that picking the right guide/ tour company is key. It makes a difference when it comes to safety and your overall experience. NA is all about having fun but being safe. The owner and our guide Matt was hilarious but also made sure that we knew what we were doing to keep us far away from any injury's. And like he said you really get to know the people in your raft because at some point you will be on top of them. There actually isn't a whole lot of rowing and the intense portions go by in a flash but at least with the help of a hiking trail and another boat you end up doing the intense parts twice. Other then that you are shooting the shit with Matt and the others in your group. Matt has a wealth of knowledge about the area and about "adventure" type stuff. I think it was the perfect combo of relaxing and heart racing experience. I would tell you more but to be honest this is really something you should experience for yourself. I will say that we all had a blast and not one of us ended up in the water... well, at least not from the rapids. I would totally do this again!! ** You're not actually allowed to pee in or out of the boat. Matt will ask you if you would like for him to come to your work and pee on your desk or something, no, then don't pee at his place of work.
