I've been down ever since J'taime Eco Art space suddenly disappeared from the Hydrostone last Spring and was hoping 4Cats would be something similar. I attended the open house and was surprised to learn that they host art-themed workshops for kids and adults. Some workshops are one offs and others are over several sessions. The workshops are based around a different artist or subject and they teach a variety of art mediums. They even do camps for kids. And you can host art-themed birthday parties there. My daughter had a blast at the grand opening. The highlight was the Jackson Pollock room where kids get to throw paint on a canvas. Old t-shirt included. How often do you get to tell a kid "Make as much mess as you like. In fact the messier the better." That alone was worth it. My daughter also went to a clay sculpting workshop and was invited to tea where she got to go back and show off her artwork; in full princess costume of course! Having just opened, the owner and staff are still getting their business legs under them and sometimes things can be a little disorganized. However they are nice and great with kids. They really seem to be having a blast at it and that really shows in how positive they are with customers. I am really glad to see a different type of business open; especially one that promotes creativity in kids. I wish them all the success.

My school made the decision to call the mobile crisis line to get peace officers to come and do wellness checks on me daily sometimes multiple times a day for multiple days. The police and peace officers were extremly well trained to do their jobs. They invited me to church with them and ensured my well being was good. They came with 8 peace officers and involuntarily took me against my will to the emergency room and forcefully medicated me. They sat by my side, fed me snacks and talked to me for over 12 hours until I was admitted to the emergency room. I finally given psych treatment that I needed for over 3 years. The police and peace officers that Dal contacted actually advocated for me to get a TON of resources including assisted living, a work program for people with disabilities, psych nurses to come to my home weekly to check in on me and unlimited food. I am forever grateful for their decision to contact the peace officers to involuntarily admitted me into the psych unit because multiple professionals refused to get me treatment in the past for years and I got brain damage because of it. I thank God everyday for this school getting me the treatment and resources that I needed to survive and reach my full potential. Sadly I had to leave school due to my acute psychosis and brain damage but I will be forever grateful for them advocating for me to get the resources that I needed to survive and thrive.

My college, the school of health and human performance, on campus was falling apart and reeked of dead rats. My residence was filled with asbestos and I would hazard to guess that proper precautions were not taken during renovations. Please, please go elsewhere. Any scholarship they offer you is simply a ploy to take more courses. Don't fall for Dalhousie's garbage. If I could rate this less than 1 star, I would.

The professionals at the school did not take the time to talk to me and get to know me and isntead they labeled me as bullying my professors, expelled me and banned me from the property for life. They took away all forms of communication from me to prevent me from getting justice and told me I needed to hire a lawyer to talk to them while I was living in severe poverty. They never made sure that I got treatment from a peace officer for my acute psychosis and paranoid delusions so I stayed in my severe acute psychosis for over 3 years. Due to the length of time I went with my psychosis untreated I now have been diagnosed with severe brain damage and memory problems. They should have spent more time talk to me and getting to know my situation to ensure that they could have gotten me treatment from a peace officer and giving me involuntary treatment for my acute psychosis but their only goal was to maintain their reputation and sales so they didn't bother getting me treatment from a peace officer when they desperately should have done so. They ruined my transcripts with a false suspension and expulsion due to labeling my acute psychosis as breaking a rule and bullying my professors when it wasn't that at all and it has prevented me from getting into new schools and prevented me from getting a career. I demand that they remove my suspension and expulsion from my transcripts to ensure I can go to a new school across the country and get a career to be as successful as I can be. There was never a rule broken and they overlooked my acute psychosis while being very uneducated about how to get a peace officer to involuntarily give me treatment to prevent this from happening again to de escalate the situation. I demand justice and peace for myself and others in this situation. I demand that they reach out to me because they are ignoring me until I pay for a lawyer while living in severe poverty. My statute of limitations for legal actions would be extended about 3 years due to being in a psychosis for 3 years. They have threatened me with lawsuits with their lawyer as well which are baseless. I have NO FEARS and NOTHING else to loose from this school. I DEMAND JUSTICE IT'S BEEN OVER THREE YEARS.

One day I was talking to a construction worker at the water fountain and he told me the building recently had $6 million worth of renovations. There is a nice new library at the front of the building with large picture windows. I heard from the Novanet online librarian that NSCC will be getting electronic resources this year in November. That will put community college on par with the university libraries. At the front of the building there is a Starbucks and you can also get the Metro and the Coast. Another feature I like are the hydration stations where you can refill your water bottle with fresh clean cool water, with a Britta filter. There is a beautiful living wall of plants when you walk into the wings. I have never seen anything like it, anywhere! You get a lot of skill based training here which is important in today's job market. The building has wi-fi too. You can stay after class and work on the schools computers which have a lot of software on them. The cafeteria seems busy every day. I see people eating Italian food and wraps, so I think the menu is tasty and healthy too. And there is an active Student Association. Learn more at http://www.nscc.ca/
