Initial impressions were 'warm' - there were a lot of rosy faced Yorkshire men sat around us. Food was good and the portions huge - I had the steak with chunky chips and my date had the caesar salad. Waitresses were young, pretty and attentive. Desserts were enormous and we shared one. Only complaint is that the staff started wiping down at around 5pm and dragging chairs across the floor - this didn't help my companion's splitting hangover and I was tempted to ask for some tin foil to chew on just to finish her off. VAT included on bill - tips in a pot by the till. Worth it for the size of the portions!!!!!

There are lots of highchairs and room for puchchairs but the menu isn't particularly child friendly, there are no specific options although they will let you order a half portion from the main menu. It's definitely not a cheap lunch out but if you go at the right time it's well worth a visit.

Plan your special occasion dinner here!!! The Waterside Bistro and Bar hosted a very special…read morefamily dinner before the wedding for my nephew and his bride and her family. Despite the challenges of planning something with hosts who were in the U.S., the Waterside made this dinner a night everyone will remember. It was the first time bringing together different strands of a family that literally came from around the world. Ian kept everything running perfectly. We met up earlier in the day to iron out a few details and then those of us hosting didn't have to worry about a thing. Paul Huddlestone is a world class chef who works with fresh, organic, Yorkshire ingredients to make a menu that is both local and international in flavors. We are a family who really enjoy good food -- with many avid cooks, including professional chefs -- and everyone loved the food. The wine selections were perfect. And the prices were reasonable too, which was also a factor selecting the Waterside as a place for the dinner. They worked with us to please the tastes of everyone. Despite having a larger group, the selections were customized. The staff were all so warm and friendly. Chef Paul even surprised us with a lovely amuse bouche for our sparkling wine toast at the start of the meal. By dessert there were many more toasts thanks to a dinner that made us now one family. I have attached some photos just to show how happy we all were -- and the good food and relaxed atmosphere made that possible. If you want to have a dinner with some world class food that is firmly rooted in local cuisine, you should dine here. In addition, if you are planning a larger special occasion dinner: I cannot recommend the Waterside highly enough.

The menu had me confused as i didnt really know what was what so i opted for what sounded ok. I had bbq ribs and a salad which looked the best option and i had a chocolate pud afterwards. The food was lovely and yummy but it just didnt fill me - for the price we paid which was abotu £10 for mine alone without drinks - i wouldve expected at least chips to go with it and a decent portion but the portions were pathetic. Tapas does mean small meal or summat i was told when i moaned to my sister who absolutely loves the place but still, I would prefer fish and chips. The atmosphere was lovely - there was about 6 tables all nearish to one another so there would be no intimacy but being with my sister that didnt bother me. Later on in the night a man and woman started doing some spanish entertainment which livened the night up but wasnt really for me. There was a bar but the choice wasnt over the top and i wouldve loved a cocktail but no chance. The staff were nice and friendly.

We had a mixed starter to begin with so we got a little bit of everything, but i would seriously recommend the salt, pepper and chili mushrooms. I don't like spicy food that much but these had just the right amount of kick to them to be tolerable yet incredibly tasty! Safe to say, i scoffed them all!! For main course I had sweet and sour chicken. It was DELICIOUS. At imperial you get just the right amount of food, so its not like your eating what seems to be a never ending plate of food which happens in a lot of places!! That being said, I could have eaten that meal til i was sick, it was just beautiful! Beautifully seasoned with just the right amount of sweet and sour. And who could really argue with the fact you get free prawn crackers and a fortune cookie and mints at the end?! Not me!! The staff are also really friendly and really helpful. They provide a great customer service and all add to the great vibe this place gives. If you ever get chance to eat here, I would reccomend that you do. Its superb!

Between the 6 of us we had a variation of 7 starters (e.g. Spareribs in OK sauce, Chicken wings with salt and chili, Seaweed, Chicken Saté, Prawn toast etc.) After this we shared a half aromatic crispy duck between us and to finish it off, we all had a different main course. Every single thing was absolutely delicious, well cooked, well seasoned, well presented we could not have wished for more and nobody had room left for a dessert! The service was speedy, attentive and everybody had always time for a joke and a good laugh. We felt as welcome as if we were part of the family. And when the bill was presented... well, another nice surprise. Fantastic food, great hospitality, great value for money - you will have to search around for qutie a while to find a place that matches The Imperial in Shipley
