When you think of Italy, you think you have to have pizza, right? My husband and I had just gotten off of the ferry from Vulcano and Lipari, and were very hungry. Because it was both the off-season and early in the evening, our dining options were limited. Da Tonino was both close and open, two of our most important criteria.
We started off with mozzarella sticks, which my husband loved but I thought as though they tasted like they came from a box. They also were not heated all the way through (pet peeve). The pizza, however, was pretty good.
My husband got a veggie pizza and I got a 5 cheese (no sauce) pizza. I couldn't try my husband's but he said it was pretty good. My 5 cheese pizza had mozzarella, smoked provolone, gorgonzola and two others (sorry, I should have taken a picture). Cheese was well-melted and the crust was very, very good.
While we were sitting there, there were several locals who got takeout (a good sign). Service was friendly. read more
