Very popular Italian restaurant on a side street, close to the centre of Trier. The restaurant…read moreitself is up a flight of stairs, oddly above a hairdresser. The menu is traditionally Italian, with pasta, pizzas, meat, and fish dishes based on southern Italian classics. On our visit, service was friendly and efficient. On our first visit, we both had a side salad, followed by pasta. Side salads were very fresh and generous, with proper Italian dressing. Both pasta dishes were well, flavoured and - joy of joys - the pasta was al dente. We decided to eat here again before we left Trier. On our second visit, I had a pizza Contadina (vegetarian) and my partner had scallopini Italia, a pork escalopes, topped with tagliatelle and bolognaise sauce. Again we were impressed with the quality and, while generous, portions were not excessive. Recommended.

Promptly seated and a drink order taken. The menus covers all the stops to satisfy your Italian food desires. They have an excellent chilled house wine, cold beer, and all other common drinks. It's even neat to regularly see the man himself, Da Luigi. He makes every effort to ensure your comfort within the restaurant. During one visit it was a hot day and there was outside seating setup, but all were occupied. We went inside to sit and he saw that we were hot, and directed us outside to a table that he had setup just for us! Effort like that doesn't go unnoticed and whenever I feel like dining out, Da Luigi's is my first choice.
