We also ordered Spaghetti Aglio e Olio for Junior and the salmon Stockerlfisch for my husband. My food was just OK. They used some kind of red beef sausage for the currywurst which I am guessing is a local thing, but it was decent. The Thai-inspired curry sauce was rather lame unfortunately. It kind of felt as if they had just mixed two store-bought sauces together. It had a bit of heat, but if that makes it the spiciest curry sausage around the lake, then I don't want to try the others. LOL The fries were just OK as well. The spaghetti were pretty good. They were al dente and not too oily. The star of this lunch was definitely the Stockerlfisch. I never had freshwater salmon before and was quite interested to see how it compares to the Pacific salmon I usually eat. I am happy to report that it was quite nice. The fish had a good flavor and was well prepared without being dry. Totally recommended to try it. A note about the service: It was quite slow, but this place is super busy so I feel you need to take this into account. At the same time, every waiter I talked to or observed seemed very friendly and in a good mood - and that is certainly worth mentioning if a place is buzzing like Westernacher.

The schnitzels and frites were excellent and the tea service was very nice as well. The wait staff spoke a little English and were friendly to us. There was no English menu but it wasn't a problem for us to find what we wanted (schnitzel!). Very enjoyable option if you find yourself in this area.

They serve various italian-style dishes, though mainly pasta. Important note: no pizza is served! The food is very fresh and tastes great. I've had Scaloppine (thinly cut veal) with mushrooms, grilled vegetables and polenta. Everything was well seasoned and the meat was extremely tender. The price of the scaloppine is EUR 14,90. That isn't cheap and resembles the rest of the price list quite well. It's not overly expensive, but I wouldn't go there for grabbing a quick bite. You can best enjoy the place there when you have plenty of time for having a nice meal with a glass of good wine and a great view of the lakeside and the mountains. Ideal for lush summer nights. Later in the evening it is nice and quiet as the main action moves to the bar a few meters down the road, but at 6:00 pm, right when they open, you will have to expect a little more noise because of many swimmers leaving the beach with their children. Over all: bring plenty of time and some cash, enjoy the view and some nice food and maybe think about going there after 8:00 pm

Having been here years before, I expected nothing special. But I was to be positively surprised. Plus, coming with a 8 month old baby its not always a given to be made feel welcome. Here it was absolutely the case. But about the food: The "Renke" is a local fish. I had it "blau" (pouched in a wine/vinegar/rooty vegetables stock. It should not boil. Very important not to overcook. Tonight, this was just perfect! And a special thank you to a very nice baby-savy waiter! Altogether a really nice evening, quite unexpected, probably unfairly so. Highly recommended!
