If you want your kids to advance in piano or any music instruments in a normal pace. This is not the place. The owners seem to care about fulfilling there teacher's schedule more than the students individual growth. As there are big gaps between teachers quality as well. Some are ok some are horrible. It depends on your luck. Of course they would tell you these teacher is specially selected for you base on your kid's whatever but in reality. The owners seem is the best teacher but they pick their student very selectively. Only the best will get into their schedule. Other's they don't care. I would never send my kid to music schools like that again. Will always get the individual teacher in the future. Amanda, My son got pass the ABRSM with distinction is mostly because of his hard-work. I want to add that your school and the teacher didn't informed us there will be a fourth song that needed to play during exam until a week before the actual exam. That being said. This shows how inexperience the teacher is and your school didn't bother to let us know as we have plan this months prior. My son only had a week to practice a bring new song before the exam and that really stress out the entire family and fortunately our son pulled it off. Again. All you care is fulfilling your teacher's schedule over the independent students growth as you have many students with many teachers who sometimes comes and go fairly quickly. I am not saying you don't care about your students but we feel we didn't get enough attention as we feel independent teacher would be a much better choice for parents who wants more growth for their kids in time. read more

A friend told us about this school, and honestly, it's been such a great experience from the start. From day one, during the consultation, the owners truly listened to our story and took the time to match us with the right teacher. They connected us with Mr. Jonathan, and he's been amazing -- super patient, creative, and always keeps the lessons engaging. One thing we especially love is that Mr. Jonathan encourages the kids to improvise at the end of lessons, and sometimes he even picks up his guitar to play along. It makes the music feel so much more fun and alive! We've had substitute teachers a few times, but honestly, no complaints whatsoever! The school also hosts recitals twice a year, which has been a huge confidence boost for the kids. They get recognized for all their hard work, and they actually look forward to performing -- and yes, they love the rewards too! My daughter started her piano journey here by taking Ms. Amanda's group piano lesson about two years ago when the school just started. Parents need to sit aside due to the young age of kids. Both of me and my daughter enjoyed the lesson! We were also introduced to two of their great teachers, Crystal and Colin... unfortunately due to our move to south bay, we could continue the private lessons with them. But I must say this school of lots of talented teachers who care a lot on young age students. When finding teachers for young students, it is most important to find someone who is skillful in piano but also know how to teach, and Amanda and the teachers there are the expert on doing this. Now after two years, my daughter Sarah has grown into a little pianist, winning multiple prizes in competitions and piano festivals (USOMC, Artcial ... ), and I feel very thankful that we came to this school as the starting point! I was referred by a friend whose daughter took the keyboard group lesson with teacher Amanda. She was always talking about how much fun the lessons are and seems to have so much fun. After seeing how much she has improved and transitioned into private piano lessons right after. I decided to sign up my daughter who was almost 4 (I called and they said it was ok.) From teacher Amanda's way of talking to kids and how she would change her approach quickly to teach each kid, I can tell she knows what she is doing and she's experience in teaching different types of children. What I like about the class the most is that teacher Amanda doesn't give false expectation to the parents. She let the parents know in the first few lessons what the kids will be learning throughout the eight weeks and what they'll need to practice/write every week in order to progress. And that's exactly what I need, as a parent. The assignments are posted online weekly and the target points helped me understand what things need to be accomplished each week. The whole session is very organized for parents and fun for kids. While actually learning how to play the piano. I would highly recommend! read more

We have been with Da Capo for over a year now and I am so thankful for their convenient llocation, wonderful teachers, and great facility. My daughter takes piano with Ms Jennifer and guitar with Mr. Thomas. They are both skilled teachers. When I heard her first concert I cried - couldn't believe my ears. I was so proud of her. I have not had one negative experience in the time we have been with them, their accounting has been accurate, they follow up when we need to reschedule, etc. I couldn't ask for anything better. My kids started out with Ms. Amanda when they were five years old and continued through 8th grade. She's a wonderful teacher with a funny sense of humor that kids can appreciate. She's patient yet knows when to push. She encourages them to try different genres and teaches them music theory, even getting them ready for the Certificate of Merit test. The recitals that Ms. Amanda and the other teachers put on for the kids are such a good experience for them. We would've continued with Ms. Amanda if high school wasn't so busy! read more

Unfortunately, I am leaving a one-star review, mainly for Ms. Amanda, for the unrealistic expectations for a beginner's piano class for a four-year-old. When I searched yelp for a beginner's piano class, this company came up, and the great reviews about Ms. Amanda encouraged me to look further into this music company. On the website, the introduction of the beginner's piano class states the following skills the children will "learn": Posture and hand shape Technique Ear training Solfege and singing Rhythm activities Fun exercises Theory workbook Duets and mini-performance But, it does not state that children should know their left-hand and right-hand to succeed in this class; otherwise, this class will be challenging. When my daughter and I attended the first two classes, it was fun and engaging; however, by the third session, the dynamic of the class and Ms. Amanda's attitude started to change. She first belittled me for asking a question about some piano key notes in my daughter's homework (I'm not experienced in piano, so I am here asking these questions to help my daughter). Then, when Ms. Amanda asked my daughter to play some notes following the notes illustrated in the piano book, I helped my daughter by telling her which hand to use, "left hand" and right hand." Then, she got upset and said, "Don't tell her, she should do it on her own." Her attitude disappointed me since I felt this was a safe place to help my daughter. Then, she announced to the class, "The students should know their left and right hand by now, and if they don't, this class will get very challenging!" I was shocked by her attitude and unrealistic expectations for some four-year-olds. I thought this was a beginner's class to help my child thrive and not feel any less for not mastering her left and right hand at this moment. She just turned four years old. Developmentally, many children are still learning their right and left hands. From what I saw that evening, I knew I did not want to continue this class and felt like I needed to pressure my daughter with concepts that I knew she wasn't ready for the way Ms. Amanda demanded them. She was rude and unknowledgeable about young children's development. I would not recommend this beginner's piano class to anyone unless you have some music experience and your child has mastered left- and right-hand coordination. When I tried requesting my full refund for a class that had expectations not stated on their website, the admin disregarded my views about the poor management of Ms. Amanda's course and misleading information and, instead, only offered a free trial. Then, the admin tried to tell me that the contract said I could get a refund after the first class. But, I was only dropping it because the course was misleading and falsely advertised from what I signed up for. So, why would I continue a beginner's piano class where my daughter will only feel like she is failing due to Ms. Amanda's high and unrealistic expectations of having to know her left and right hand by the third session? Please don't waste your time here! It is evident that the admin only cares about their money! read more

My daughter loves her and I am also amazed about her teaching style. We had a teacher in the past who doesn't care much about the finger technique and fundamentals. When we started interviewing with different piano teachers 2 years ago, we found Da Capo Music where at that time, the studio was still under construction. We had a couple zoom meetings with teacher Crystal and Amanda to learn about their qualifications and teaching methods. We have decided to work with them. Teacher Crystal has been teaching my daughter for 1 1/2 years now, my daughter has made very good progress working on her level 3 for next year. Teacher Crystal is always been very encouraging to my daughter to participate in recitals and competition. Her teaching method is structural, thorough, and thoughtful about picking the right piano pieces for my daughter to play, tailored to her strengths and weaknesses. When we were looking for a piano teacher, Teacher Amanda came recommended with a lot of experience. She came to our home at the time because Da Capo Music School didn't exist yet. My daughters were 5 and 6 years old, and while a bit nervous about learning a new instrument, they quickly became excited when Teacher Amanda introduced them to the world of music. Teacher Amanda started teaching my son when he was old enough over zoom during the pandemic and he loved it. He did his first piano recital right when Da Capo opened, and he still loves to play piano. While they haven't been the most amazing about practicing consistently, my children thrived under Teacher Amanda whose patience and direct feedback turned them into solid players. Each of my children are very different, yet Teacher Amanda had success teaching all of them despite how differently each learns. They can now read music very well, and have a strong command of the piano. I'm grateful my children have a strong piano foundation, and I have Teacher Amanda to thank. read more
