I'm not one to write uncomplimentary reviews, but this is a situation that calls for that:…read more Had to stop at this bike repair shop for an emergency repair. John Newman, the owner, seemed like a straight shooter and he had the needed part in stock. After 2 days, I went to pick up the bike and it wouldn't start. He had forgotten to reconnect the battery; had to come back later. Once It was "ready" and I was on my way out, I found that he had not tightened the shifter pedal (which was vibrating out of position) and somehow he had knocked the oil filter loose as it was spraying oil was from the front of the engine. I rode it back to the shop and he corrected this. On the way home, I found oil leaking from under the primary. After getting the bike back home, I took it to my local mechanic (who I swear by). He found that in the process of fixing that something else, John had damaged the new seals on the primary. They had to be replaced to the tune of $145. My mechanic even spoke with John by phone to explain the circumstances (this was at John's request) and he told me that John seemed to be in agreement with facts of situation (no leak of the brand new seals before he touched by bike; a massive leak afterwards). After speaking with John and asking him to refund only the $145 (not the over-blown $440 (yeah he overcharged for labor by about 2 hours but when you're 300 miles from home, they got you over a barrel); mysteriously now, whenever I call his number, I get voice mail; Hmm, not sure how one can run a business when they never answer the phone or return messages. Bottom line: This business is not run by capable, skilled or honest people and you should take your bike elsewhere for repair.
