It is great for a nice dinner to sit down and enjoy a meal. We ordered quite a few appetizers and entrees to share as this was our last night here. We started with some raw oysters, smoke fish croquette ($9.50 each), focaccia bread ($9) with artichoke dip ($12), seafood chowder ($30), and the beef tartare ($28). Our favorites were probably the oysters and the focaccia bread with the spread. The oysters were fresh and we enjoyed trying them all. The focaccia bread went great with the spread as the bread was warm and the spinach dip was a nice cool dip to match. The bread was also perfect to dip in the chowder. For the entrees, we ordered a side of green beans ($14), fettuccine ($27|$37), Lumina Lamb Backstrap ($19 per 100g), and the Japanese wagyu ($85 per 100g). Our favorite out of everything was the wagyu. The lamb was delicious but it's not comparison after you have a bite of the wagyu. The Wagyu was cooked perfectly. The meat was not too thick of a piece to cut. The green beans were a great side to go along with the meal. The almonds added a nice crunch to the green beans. Overall, we enjoyed our meal very much. We felt that this restaurant was a perfect way to end our stay in Wellington!

Overall, they have a wide variety of beers including sours and we tried multiple and bought some to bring home. I came to this location while waiting for my partner and it was pretty busy and all the tables were taken. While I was here, they were training a new person so grabbing a beer was kind of slow. This location is a little small. Their newer location on Leeds street is much bigger and more comfortable. The other location I went to was across the street one block down which sells to go bottles and cans while this one doesn't. I enjoyed the Konbini yuzu and lemon the most and got a pack of that and my partner got the pickle sours (spicy and regular).

It's located in Te Aro nearby Wellington proper and a quick walk or ride-share away. It's situated in a historic old home that's skinny yet cozy. I'm told it gets packed on the weekend, so be sure to account for that if you're a fan of a quiet place to drink. The seating is all built in with a large bar, and plenty of tables for singles, doubles, or small groups. The bar takes full advantage of being the brewery's taproom with more selections than you could drink. They do not offer flights here (sampling is across the street), so be sure to look for special things on draught not available elsewhere. The staff was super friendly and easy to deal with. I loved the little touch of having little bulbs of each beer with the taps to show the color of what you're ordering. Prices are fantastic, cheap for the high quality of the freshest beer around. This is a must-stop for any beer lover visiting Wellington.

Tables and booth seating are along the left wall, with a large bar taking up the right. They have a great tap list of local/NZ beer, plus cans/bottles, and food. The night I planned to come in I was running a little late, but even though it was close to closing, they let me in and were welcoming. I also had such a fun time meeting brewers from Australia in town for Beervana; it was a friendly place. The bartenders were great, glassware clean, and I definitely would've been back if I had more time.

I even dare to say, the beer here is better than Aus. Maybe that's too bold a statement, but I'm standing by it. Malthouse is the craft beer haven epicenter of Wellington. With over 150 national and international beers, this beer bar hosts the largest range of beer in NZ. A full tap range, staple beers and rotating ones all keep this beer bar "in the know" with its ever changing selection. Behind the row of taps, is "Malty's Wall" with fridges keeping beers cooled at the right temp, ready for tasting and consuming. Many of NZ beers come from small boutique breweries, which make them harder to find outside of NZ, but Malthouse hosts a great focus on local breweries. The menu is a beer bible. I've never seen one like it. It's leather bound and very extensive, filled with beer choices and all the information to accompany such a vast beer bar. Seating is cozy with both indoor and outdoor options. High tables, bar seats, lounge tables as well. With food options, they've got the perfect munchies which compliment beer. Try their famous Ugly Bread. Or the pizza. I'm a strong believer of great beer bars having pizza. It's something about cheesy tomato bread that goes so well with beer. All in all, this place is hands down, great.

Bebemos, a Latin inspired restaurant, looked good so we went in. We arrived for a late lunch/early dinner (around 5:15pm) and the place was busy. Must be because of happy hour (3:00pm to 5:00pm, Monday to Thursday). Beers are $7.00/pint and sangria is $15.00/jug! The inside is super cool with flamingo and pineapple decor to lemur inspired wallpaper. Serious tropical/hipster vibes. The outside beer garden is huge and has a favela bar. There's 10 beers/ciders on tap. No flights but they do let you sample before committing to buy one. We tried the boysenberry sour and elderflower cider. Sadly, we didn't like either. There's a brunch and dinner menu. Dinner menu is broken into small plates, large plates, burgers and dessert. Service was friendly and food came out pretty quickly. - Beer-battered fries ($8.50 NZD) - rosemary and garlic fries with chili mayo. These were top notch. Perfectly battered and great crunchy texture. Chili mayo paired magically. - Pan-fried greens ($9.00 NZD) - green beans, broccolini and zucchini with crispy chickpeas and lemon. Good variety of veggies. Oddly, they kept all the vegetables long (like the broccolini). Pretty simple but nice if you want to eat healthy. - Moqueca de peixe ($38.00 NZD pot for two) - Bahian seafood stew of prawns, fish, mussels, red peppers, tomato, coriander, coconut milk and rice. You get 7 mussels and a couple prawns and fish. Not a whole lot of seafood for the price. The sauce needed a heavier hand with the seasoning. We weren't too impressed. The rice on its own was bland too. Seems to be a popular spot for after work drinks. I'd stick with the drinks and the small plates to share. 3.5 stars.

The entrance is deceiving as it is primarily listed as a bar and the warnings almost made me wonder if I was wandering into a stripclub. But no. Follow the narrow staircase at the foot of Cable Car Lane to a very hip and modern second floor restaurant. Staff Was friendly and service was prompt. The vibe here is urban classy. The music was up my alley- House- played at a reasonable volume. I was wishing it was evening or Happy Hour with friends or a date. I ordered the Basic B**ch martini (pictured) and got a snack of the popcorn shrimp and some fries. Both are GF and the menu had a number of options for various dietary needs. The cocktail was refreshing and crisp. Not overly sweet. The shrimp was good but a little salty but the honey-chili offered nice contrast. The fries were thick cut and golden and came out blazing hot from the fryer. They were served with a garlic aioli that went nicely with the shrimp as well. I definitely recommend this place for locals and travelers alike. I'll look forward to coming back the next time I'm in Wellington.
