We have…read morebeen trying for ages to get a good carpenter to come and fix our shower base which had gone rotten due to a leak. We found that some carpenters thought the job too small and not worth them doing. Fortunately we were told about S.S. Carpentry and he was fantastic. Came to look at the job, saw what was needed to be done and priced if for us there and then. No hourly rate, just a straight cost. We knew where we were with him. He came the next day and was fab. Got on with the job quietly and generally pleasant all round. He has restored my faith in tradesman. I have no problem in recommending him to friends for work.

They have a really gorgeous showroom, displaying a good selection of stoves and accompanying accouterments, some of which are state of the art, as well as offering a good range of faux antique options. They also stock some excellent safety equipment, which is something they are keen to promote. There are some pretty obvious hazards where naked flames and extreme levels of heat are concerned, and Topstak are experts in the safe use of the equipment they sell. They even printed off the new EEC directive defining the new building regs for installing wood burners for me, even though I didn't actually buy anything from them!
