Dave and his son Jordan- and their crew- were awesome. Dave has been in the electrical world forever and loves doing things right and correcting any mistakes or simply things that 'I didn't love' as the home owner. They also cleaned up when they were done with my home, which I appreciated. The project was a lot bigger than anyone imagined initially- and they were also pulled to emergency jobs at times- so our timelines got pushed around a little bit. That was frustrating to me. HOWEVER, their prices were fair and they were willing to work with me on all of the 'little things' I wanted to have fixed. Follow Up: To January 30th 2026 Reveiw To my June 2025 job that was done by Jordan & David Maddux. Jordan & David Maddux asked for to take this to court reference my small claims complaint against them where I was unhappy with the quality of there work and the fact that they lied repeatedly to me about what equipment they used among other things. Because the court made a mistake and didn't allow them enough time to respond to my small claims complaint they allowed a zoom meeting trial. The trial was on April 8th 2026 where the judge found in my favor and awarded me $1470 with $100 court fee totaling $1570. The judge told the Maddux's they had 30 days to pay this in full. That date to be paid was May 8th 2026. On May 12th 2026 I had not heard from or received any payment from Jordan or David Maddux. I emailed Jordan & David on May 12th 2026 reference the money they owned me. Jordan replied and said they did not have the money to pay me. I told him that I would be contacting the court. On June 10th 2026 I again emailed Jordan and David Maddux about not receiving any money from them. It has been a week and no reply back. For anyone thinking of using Jordan & David Maddux (D Maddux Electric) I would do your home work looking at other reviews of theirs. In June 2025 we hired David Maddux and his Jordan Maddux to update our homes 100 amp service to 200 amp. We also hired them to install underground conduit and run electrical cable for our new 2025 Sundance 880 Optima (Hot Tub) and gazebo. This project took several days and they were late on many occasions. One of the days they were scheduled to do work they didn't show up. Only after contacting them did they say they needed to reschedule. When they did arrived they were late and unprepared, not having the electrical cable they needed and electrical boxes. I advised both Jordan and David that our hot tub required a 60 amp breaker to run both jets and the heater. David argued with me stating it should only need a 50 amp. I told him that the salesman that sold it to us told us it needed a 60 amp and the instructions clearly stated 60. I even called the service department where they advised David that it in fact needed a 60 amp breaker. Technician walked him through what jumpers on the hot tub needed to be set to take advantage of the 60 amp breaker. After they completed their work me and my wife were using the hot tub and noticed that when both jets were running that the heater was not turning on. I called the service department and had them send out a technician. When they arrived they stated that the jumpers on the hot tub were set at the factory setting of 50 amps and need to be switched to 60 amp. At this point I knew that David had lied to me when he said he had done it. I asked the technician to look at the disconnect that was also suppose to have a 60 amp breaker. It was the same 50 amp breaker that both David and his son Jordan said they replaced. I had to call another electrician to come out to inspect their work. The electrician looked at the electrical cable that was put in the underground conduit. He said that they used cable that was not rated to be underground. The water that was found in the conduit would have eventually ruined the cable causing issues for our hot tub. And when your sitting in over 350 gallons of water it's beyond irresponsible for David who states he's a master electrician and his son who is working underneath him. The electrician did confirm what I already knew that the disconnect was in fact a 50 amp breaker. He said that the outside breaker box that they switched from 100 to 200 amp did have a 60 amp breaker in it. But said that they should have wired it at the disconnect to handle the 60 amps. On August 21st, 2025 I emailed Jordan Maddux asking him: Jordan, "Did you and your dad put in a 60amp breaker at the disconnect box and at the outside main breaker panel? Did you switch change the gauge wire like I asked at both disconnect and at the breaker panel? If so what wire did you use?" On August 27th, 2025 he replied: "We did and we used #6 wire rated at 60 amps. We did replace the original wire which was a number 8. Are you having an issue?" Keep in mind I had already had another electrician confirm that they disconnect was still a 50 amp breaker. Clearly he was lying. I hired the other electrician to replace the electrical wire that was in the conduit for the hot tub with the correctly rated wire. They also made sure the hot tub was setup so that it was getting 60 amps that it required. In In November of 2025 I filed a small claims suit against David & Jordan Maddux as well as the company D Maddux Electric. David Maddux was hand served the paperwork by a Leelanau County process server, to appear in court for the small claims suit. The date was scheduled for December 16th, 2025 at 11am to which neither David or Jordan Maddux showed up. The court stated they because they failed to show up that they were defaulted and were now responsible for paying me $3740.40. On January 24th, 2026 I emailed David and Jordan Maddux: David & Jordan, "You did not show up for you mediation case on December 16th, 2025. Judge Robert Cooney defaulted you on nonappearance. You owe me $3740.40. I am writing to you to collect the money owed. If you refuse to pay or ignore my attempts to collect payment I will be going back to the court." As of this date January 30th, 2026 I have not any reply back from either David or Jordan. Obviously I will never have D Maddux Electric do any work for me every again. In my opinon David and Jordan can not be trusted when hiring and paying them to do a job. If you are looking for an electrician I would not hire them to do any electrical work! read more
