We found Schaeffer Construction through a referral, and from the moment we contacted them we really felt this might be the right choice. Tim Schaeffer responded to our inquiry fast. He answered our questions, made suggestions, and came to our home the next day to gather information. He was professional, on time, made measurements, took pictures, answered more questions, and said he would get back to us within 24 hours. The next day we had his bid, and his game plan if accepted. This was all great, but it got even better once we accepted the bid, and construction got started. They poured footings that could easily support a full size building. Every board used was hand picked & top quality. The joints were precisely cut. The cedar decking was stained on all 4 sides, and then screwed to the framing from the sides so nothing shows from the top. There were no shortcuts taken building the roof, stairs, railings, and balusters. I could go on, but you get the picture! I highly recommend Schaeffer Construction.

If you value your money and your home comfort, do NOT hire this company. The owner is dishonest, sloppy, and unprofessional. My experience with him was so bad that I had to contact the contractors board for help. They organized a mediation and we ended up settling for a partial refund. J-Dog then breached the settlement agreement by writing me a check that bounced. I had to get a court judgment for breach of settlement and collect from their insurer. Going into detail about the nightmare of an experience I had with them would be way too long for a Yelp review, but I'm attaching some photos to show the poor quality of the work (these are only a couple of the many, many problems... there's seriously too much to post here). Oh, it also took over 4 months to complete a job that was estimated to take 3-6 weeks. The level of laziness and incompetence was actually impressive. If they are even still in business, DO NOT GIVE THIS COMPANY YOUR MONEY!!
