OK, this is my new favorite coffee shop in Tijuana and might be where I buy my coffee beans from…read morefrom now on. I had this place bookmarked to try, so when I went to the dentist a few blocks away last week, I came afterwards to re-stain my teeth. An Americano was 26 pesos, which is just a bit over $1. Great price.
The service was great here. They spoke very good English and were telling me all about the beans and where they were sourced. When I looked up and saw the prices for beans, I almost fell over. 1/4 kilo was 55 pesos. I used my conversion app to see 1/4 kilo is just over 1/2 a pound, which means a pound of their beans is about $5.50. Actually less, because they sell a 1/2 kilo for 100 pesos if memory serves, which works out to about $5/lb. Considering I pay $15-$20/lb in San Diego at my favorite coffee spots, I figured it was worth a shot. Came home and brewed a cup the next day in my Chemex and loved the flavor. It holds up against my favortie spots in San Diego.
It was cash only, but they happily took my USD at market rates, which I can't say for some other places. I'll be back to get 1/2 kilo of their other coffee varities to find one I like best. Thanks, guys!
