He didn't stop there, he dunked it to make sure it wasn't leaking. Helped us put the donut back in truck after he filled it with air, and aired up all four tire. All this for $25. Our tow truck driver spoke highly of the place and when we got there, they were closed. Our tow truck driver called the owner/ son's cell phone number which is posted on the building. Within minutes Chepe came and opened the shop for us. Because it was a Sunday, we didn't expect our car to fixed until Monday at the earliest. They assessed our car needed a new alternator and that it should be ready in 40 or so minutes! What? Sure enough our car was done and we are on our way home! They charged us what Auto Zone charged them for the part and for their labor. Not only did they look at the van right away, but they'd had the whole axle replacement done by mid-afternoon! The technicians were friendly and quick, and overall it was a great experience. AAA was a joke, after 1.5 hrs, they sent a small truck with Walmart jumper cables for our huge diesel, but I regress. After spending the night in the Chevron parking lot because our truck (pulling a 33' trailer) would not start. Some kind gentleman and his grown sons stopped and ran a test on the engine and said it may be the sensors failed or a coil or ?...diesel engine troubles. Bottom line was, we weren't getting home until it was fixed. Looking for Automotive repair places in Blythe (yikes), I noted the great reviews (dismissing the one some idiot wrote about an estimate). Called Mead Automotive and spoke with a gentleman who said "yes" his wife would handle our extended diesel drive-train warranty paperwork (which Lorie is excellent at doing) and to have it towed in and he would take a look. AAA towed our trailed and truck (thank you Bobbie) and Hamp began working on it. He drove my husband to an auto supply shop for two new batteries (gave Hamp a good deal too), then returned and continued to troubleshoot. A friend drove to Blythe from Cucamonga and drove us to Ontario Airport to rent a car and drive home to Fallbrook, in San Diego. The truck and trailer stayed with Hamp. They kept our trailer for several days on their locked lot, free of charge and made sure the batteries were charged (awesome!). The next day (Friday), Hamp called and said he was home thinking about it and the answer came to him (diligence). He went in Monday morning and ordered the parts and bam, he was now able to repair it (when all the parts arrived...yay). Turned out the a/c condenser froze up and caused the engine sensors to do the same (a wife's version). The a/c had gone out on our way to Sedona (boo). The truth is that Hamp and Lorie were a true blessing for us. We were in the middle of nowhere and very vulnerable. I doubt we could have found anyone in San Diego that could have done a better job at such a fair price. Lorie billed our insurance and our share was about $800 for everything. He had our truck for 5 days and a lot of labor, not to mention keeping our trailer safe. I wish they were closer, we could always use an honest diesel mechanic out our way. Thanks again! Yes I got a serious low tire with a nail or screw in it that I can see. . Wife runs in orders food I look up tire shop on Yelp and see good year a couple blocks away. Wife comes out with food we drive 2 blocks to good year and I walk into the office and say I've got a nail in my tire is that the sort of thing your shop can help me out with? He says pull your car over there behind that truck, they will take care of you next. Guy finishes the truck and says "what do we have going on?" I say I got a nail right here in this tire. Dude knocks it out in about 15-20 minutes tells me to go in the office and give them this order slip. I go in and hand the office guy the order slip that says tire repair. I say what do I owe you? He says 25 dollars. I pay cash and give the guy who fixed the tire a 5 dollar bill on my way off. This was 2pm on a Friday, had this happened on a sunday or after 5 pm who knows. Kyle .. explained to me that his supplier do not stock the the correct tire.. so.. if could not make these tires work that I could a get credit..! Soo, well I was involved in big rig accident on 10fwy going to my doctors appointment..! When we got struck from behind.. so far I've had 5 surgeries..! At Eisenhower..! At 1540 Joe agreed to do what it took to get us on the road repairing our broken water pump. He sat my wife , three dogs and I in front of the cooler the ordered the parts . The water pump arrived after 1600 and Joe just kept plugging away until around 1930 at which point he discovered the belt was incorrect. Joe was right back at it in the morning 0730 had the correct belt and had us on the road before 0900. Joe personifies the term love your neighbor. In fact everyone I encountered in Blythe seems to carry this attitude. Couldn't we all take a lesson from this.

They were kind and willing to work on my car first thing in the morning. My spark plug was impacted some how. So he fixed the spark plug. 20 miles down the road I had the same sputtering issue. I somehow made it to O'reileys in Indio. I bought a new spark plug and tools to do myself. When I went to go take the boot off of the spark plug, I realize the screw had been completely stripped. Only reason I know that it was their mechanic, is I had just done the spark plugs myself 3 months ago. Now the boot will not tighten down. Because of the mechanic carelessly and quickly "fixing" the spark plug, he stripped a main part. I will now have to replace the entire top part of the engine to have that part fixed. As I am grateful for them getting me back on the road. I really wish they would have taken their time. Very unfortunate.

I've had a weird electrical problem with my car for over 6 months now. It simply wouldn't turn over. I took it to Pep Boys and they couldn't find anything wrong. I took it to the Honda dealership where I purchased the car, the mechanics there couldn't find anything wrong. It got to the point that I had to use a $170 jumpbox every time I had to start my car. Several hundred dollars later I finally thought to take it back to Dennis and get his opinion. Within 3 minutes Dennis Taylor found the the problem -- dirty terminal -- even though the terminals looked spotless. 5 minutes scrubbing it clean and getting everything screwed back together and I was off, good as new. He charged me nothing even though he easily could have. He said it just makes him happy to see someone "finally win one." He was just happy to see a persistent problem finally get resolved for someone. This is rare service from a mechanic. I couldn't recommend Dennis Taylor Automotive more.
