I find the closest location to me and go there with all of the documents necessary to do the transaction. I am instantly told that I cannot do it because the home I am purchasing is in Marion County and this is Sumter County, according to the snide young woman behind the counter. Knowing this is a lie, I tell her I am supposed to be able to register my tag in any county regardless of where I live. Looking somewhat surprised that I knew that fact, she then says oh, that's right, but you're gonna have to wait behind all the people who are from Sumter County and you're gonna be here all day. I'm not sure if the tax collector or the young lady behind the counter realizes it but, this is a state tag not a county tag.

Or, you can get a number when you check in and wait to be called. Even that route is usually pretty quick and the staff has always been helpful and friendly. We've been there for several things so far, and it's always been a good experience. We go to the one on Powell Road. They also have a drive through for certain services. In addition, the Library is at this same location, so if you need a library card, it's super easy to get one in person.
