After spending a week scouring yelp reviews, I remembered somehow I was following Dark Root on Instagram when they opened a year ago. I scheduled an appointment with Ricky cia The Cut app for yesterday. I showed up as Ricky was finishing up another patrons cut and he advised there's beer & water in the fridge. The vibe of the shop was warm & welcoming. Decorated with various signs and some band flags (Deftones, ETID, August Burns Red). 2 barber chairs as Ricky & Zach are the only 2 barbers. The talk was friendly and varied from music to why we moved to Pittsburgh to how he got his start as a barber. We discussed a plan for my beard after I showed him a picture of what I was trying to get back to. He also makes his own beard oil which I snagged a bottle of and have to say it worked wonders as far as the dry skin goes. I've already booked another appointment with Ricky and would recommend this spot to anyone.
