So while hubby and neighbor waited for them, they were able to stage A LOT! They worked so hard because we have a few very difficult items to move upstairs. They never got frustrated, and the only curse words spoken were from me! I hired an extra mover and I'm so glad I did. A truly fabulous crew. I highly recommend Bekins for your next move. I said its a small job maybe twenty minutes and of course I would pay the minimum. The only company that would help was Cross Town Movers who said its a small job and they would do it on their way to another job first thing in the morning in a couple of days. Wow customer service is not dead. Matt W and Josh F showed up right on time and were very friendly and got right to work getting the fountain pieces out of my wife's van and to our patio. They were very careful with the pieces and were done in less than twenty minutes. A five star performance. Great emploees.

My experience was so-so at best…read more They sprang an additional $1,000 bill on me after saying that the amount I paid was the FINAL amount and didn't check with me before cashing my check (the "FINAL" bill was more than I had expected, and required juggling several bank accounts to make the check good). Because of this my new landlord charged me fees of $170 (tho, to be fair, I thought it would only be $70 and TM did credit that against the unexpected bill). As for moving, other than not packing my spice drawers or wall desk, not bringing the firewood or firewood holder (also expensive), and charging me for boxes (after swearing to use the ones I had already bought) they were very average - broken glass in pictures, a couple of badly packed and smashed items, but nothing out of the ordinary for movers. All told, I'm out $9k for moving, $400 for missing items, and no Goodwill receipt for donated items (which I was counting on for my 2026 taxes). E-mail has gone unanswered now that I no longer owe them money.

A bit of a bumpy ride, but in the end I am satisfied, as you can see by the 4-star rating…read more We were moving about an hour to a new home and chose Cal's as our mover, having them pack at the old home, then move and unpack at the new home. I'll start with the good stuff: the people who came to our home to do the packing, moving, and unpacking were great. Our headaches were all administrative. I'll list them and then explain how they were resolved. The person who came to the old home to estimate the job -- or someone else back at the office -- missed the mark. They scheduled a half day to pack and one day to move and unload. In the end, it took a full day to pack and two days to move and unload. This didn't cause any real problems for us, just a lot of scrambling and phone calls to deal with the unexpected. The other issue was some unintended overcharging, on top of a final cost that ended up well above the original estimate. On a call before the final bill was written up, I was told we wouldn't incur extra costs for the move and unpacking taking two days instead of one. My wife ended up signing the final bill without me present, and that promised adjustment hadn't made it onto the paperwork, so the overcharge went through unquestioned. After some back and forth, we were refunded the overage. A second charge we disputed was a credit card surcharge that hadn't been disclosed upfront, either in our planning conversations or in the signed contract. Cal's refunded that fee as well once we raised it. Both issues were resolved within about a week of us raising them, which I appreciated. The reason for four stars instead of five is the estimate itself: it was about $4,500, and we ended up paying just over $7,000. I was actually surprised by the $4,500 figure at the time, since other estimates I'd gotten for this move were in the $7,000-$8,000 range. In the end, the final cost was about what it should have been, the original estimate was just way off.

Do not use these people if you value your possessions and furniture…read more They showed complete disregard for any care. We used them for a 300 mile move within the state. They do not take an inventory of items loaded. When our furniture arrived at the destination a brand new wooden bed frame was broken as well as an antique record cabinet. Total value of both was approx. $550. Lile paid $139.00 for replacement. Replacement for the bed frame alone was approx. $450.00, price for the antique record cabinet is unknown. We still have small items we are not able to locate. We found small items waded up in packing paper but not labeled. For instance three sand dollars waded up in paper. Four screws waded up in paper not labled. There were several waded up pieces of paper that contained small items taped and unlabled. Fortunately we opened some but I am positive some small wrapped items were discarded as dunnage. We had a large wall clock packed and marked This Side Up with arrows pointing upwards, this was found in our living room upside down. The clock is still in the shop. I did not mention smaller broken items such as glassware, dishes etc. there was only a few. A different crew unloaded the truck than the ones that loaded it so they knew nothing of any necessary re-assembly. These movers were definitely like "bulls in a china shop" In closing all I can say is buyer beware and do some research!

Origin and Booking Agent (Bertsch M&S in Corvallis, OR) was fantastic and gladly walked me thru the process including my follow up calls to the office...I need to add this or did you include this? They were very helpful and reassuring. On the load date the crew was beyond awesome. The access for many boxes and furniture was by a narrow stairwell to the finished basement. They were pros! I watched often as they packed the truck, wrapping with care. There was one minor speedbump when the Destination Agent was changed unknown to us, but in the end, I was glad because, the driver and crew of the destination agent was also fantastic. We could not have been happier. Damage was minimal and limited to some scraped paint on a gym piece and two very large and heavy planters that were broken. The art, furniture, TV's, mirrors kitchen items and vinyl collection were delivered intact! We will take some credit as we packed, but the crews did a great job of packing the van and keeping everything well protected. I would highly recommend Bertsch Moving and Storage of Corvallis, OR for your moving needs.

They unloaded the original, smaller truck and placed my shipment in a much larger truck with others/piggy backed the shipment. Five pieces of antique furniture were damaged and needed to be repaired. My 6-ft step ladder and a shelf for an antique dresser went missing, along with other items. The large saucer for a bird bath was obviously broken beyond repair, and its base (an antique art deco stand) was chipped. The long-distance driver hired a crew of 3 from Bismarck. He unloaded a few things, then sat in his truck complaining that his helpers were taking too long. No one monitored the items on the check off sheet. Steer clear of this company if you value your belongings!
