He let me know in advance how to prepare for shoot day, simple things like shaving in advance so you don't get red bumps or anything that would show up in the pictures, which I thought was a great touch. I was really nervous to do my first ever photographic shoot but he really put me at my ease, keeping a steady flow of chatter going and helping me relax. He gives brilliant direction so I was comfortable with every pose as he made it all so easy for me and I really could not be more thrilled with the photographs, even if they may not be something I want to show the grandkids in years to come, I will always have them for myself. You can bring items you have from home like corsets and lingere, but he also has a dress up box full of incredible outfits to peruse, so you don't have to worry about what to bring with you.

I had a few friends - college students - who needed headshots done for applications, and their photos turned out so well that I had to know who did them! I was on a tight deadline to get a professional (corporate) photo done and got in touch with Steve who was able to fit me in the next day. It's a straightforward 15 minute walk from Grafton Street and when I arrived, we got me done and dusted within 15 minutes and on my way! That was Wednesday - he got my finished photo back to me by Friday. Although not a particularly insecure person in daily life, I do run into the typical self-consciousness when taking photos. Steve absolutely minimized this without trying to do the annoying insincere flattery thing, which I actually really appreciated. He didn't try to make my simple application photo into a "photo shoot" and helped me to mitigate the "tired medical student" look, making minor but key adjustments as we went along without taking an age and a half to do so. Anyway that's about all I can say that's helpful - except that if I ever need any kind of portrait taken again, I'll definitely be going back!

The classes are affordable and the teachers have experience of working in the industry. The building itself is very impressive, there is a gallery downstairs open to the public and a public cafe upstairs. They also run free lectures, talks and exhibitions from time to time. The staff are helpful and approachable. Also it's central location in Temple Bar makes it accessible by all public transport routes.

They are not the best printers in town but I consider them the best value for money with very reasonable quality of printing for not that much money and quite fast turnaround.

My first experience with this lab was absolutely terrible. Three owners. The printer Michael had a…read moreterrible condescending attitude and very rude. The prints I received from them was well below standards. I got made two 8' prints and two 6' prints printed and mounted and heatsealed. The prints were absolutely terrible they were all about 50% too dark and showed colour blotching. The shadows were all blocked up and over all a magenta colour cast. The heatseals were no better, pieces of stringed dust trapped under the heatseal in the skies were very noticeable. The edge of one of the photos seemed cut by hand and too which seemed so uneven one might thing he must have been drunk. Over all Im shocked to think any photo lab would produce such low standards.I paid €1350 and they requested I make a bank transfer in advance, which I did. I also spoke to Jim and he didn't realise that they had to match the samples that I sent with the order. OMG...I finally spoke to the printer again( Michael) to address this problem. He told me that I sized up my image that there was no camera that could produced this file size. He went on to tell me that he was printing for twenty years and there was no camera that could produce this. I couldn't get a word in at any time to explain because he hung up on me three times. His behaviour was childish and ignorant and hiding behind the phone. Anyone can have an off day but at least admit it like a man and fix the problem. They refused to remake again and no refund. I have missed an opening of a very important event with VIP's attached. Any photographer or lab can put PROFESSIONAL and QUALITY attached to their name, but real business and printers can produce. There's something about black and white photographs, especially the way Patrick makes them, that makes you look at Ireland in a different way, there's something pure and timeless about them. These frames are very affordable for what they are and are a great and fine present for friends & relatives from abroad, and actually anyone who really enjoys good pictures.
