I really wish I had taken more pics, it was kind of hard because my company's orientation was here…read moreThursday. It was awesome! First you drive through a quiet, gorgeous neighborhood. There is a spacious parking lot adjacent to a pool, tennis courts, golf course and club house. There is a grand entrance with banquet rooms. In the main banquet room, there where chefs waiting to prepare custom omelets along with bacon, sausage and fried potatoes. There was always fresh coffee and other beverages. Complements of our company. As our group would take breaks, we walked out onto the patio where there was uncovered and shaded seating over looking the beautiful golf course and pond. Most of our group stayed on site to have lunch which we had to take care of ourselves. The dining room was beautiful, but we opted to eat outside on the patio, directly in the beautiful sun. The prices were very reasonable! I got the chicken quesadilla, and it was my first time trying guacamole, and it was incredible. The quesadilla was huge, and filled with chicken, cheese and peppers, with a taco bowl on the side willed with pico de gallo, guacamole and sour cream. I also tasted my colleague's fried shrimp, and it was wonderful. The only thing was that the club only accepted plastic, which made it so that some of our colleagues had to travel off site for lunch. I must mention how clean the bathroom was. The doors were incredible with horizontal slats and locks that worked. Everything was clean and pleasant, and the paper towels felt like a blend of cotton and silk. I heard many of my colleagues comment in that. The country club staff was helpful and pleasant! Overall, it was a great experience and I am glad my bosses decided to choose that private spot. It would be great to live in that neighborhood!

IMHO, if you're looking to golf down in the Crystal Coast area, there are only so many places and…read morepast that, most of them are fairly pricey. Enter MGCC as a decent alternative. I was coming from Atlantic Beach and the best way to the course seemed to me to take the ferry across the Neuse River. The schedule is below and once you get off at the Minnesott terminal, it's basically three turns and you're at the course. www.ncdot.gov/travel-maps/ferry-tickets-services/routes/Pages/default.aspx I did make a tee-time through their website and even though it was a beautiful sunny day, it still was a weekday in mid-March and overall there was no need. www.minnesottgolf.org/tee-times/ The course was a mixed bag. From the whites it's about 6000 yards, so nothing crazy long. A lot of trees and water in some form or another comes into play on about half of the holes. The one bad thing I would say is that the course, at least to me in the traditional form, doesn't really have any rough. Everything was mostly green, but also cut very low. Low as in where does the green start/end and the fairway or rough begin. As long you weren't in the trees, you're hitting off of....sort of nothing. I did not partake in any of their food offerings at the restaurant, which is in the same building as the pro shop, but it was busy and everyone there seemed to know everyone. I don't anticipate coming back to the area any time soon, but if I do, I will definitely come back for another round. (3.5 rounding up)

This one is shorter and flatter but just has fun and challenging. They get you checked in and ready with your cart. They have 2 putting greens & a driving range. They have a few challenging water holes. The wind can add another element of difficulty. Beautifully maintained course. Nice 19th hole bar. I would definitely play here again.

I got paired up with Marty and George. Two guys about my age who were visiting from Upstate New York. They were joined by their two sons and a daughter-in-law. We teed off at 7:30a with an overcast sky and temps in the low 70's just perfect golf weather if you ask me. There was no one behind us and no one in front so we were right on stride with similar games. I like the 5 different tee box options. The tee boxes are wide, grassy, well maintained and well marked. The fairways were wide with not a lot of trouble if you did happen to go wide. Even the 'out of bounds' was friendly. There is a fair amount of water but it does not really come into play except on four holes. Hole #7, at 143 yards over water will remind you of #17 at Sawgrass and the Island green. Hole #9, is a 450 yard par 5 & the Signature Hole. This offers the 'risk reward' option where you have a decision to drive it about 250 yards to a land bridge. You will then have about 150 to 200 yards over the water to the green. If you are fortunate, the pin will be in the front. If not you will find it's a very big green with lots of elevation changes. The staff is great and very friendly and welcoming. The green fee might be a bit on the high side but it's worth it for a great OBX golf experience.
