This review is for Amber's Free Your Voice 10 week program…read more I discovered the joy of chanting in yoga classes and kirtan, and for a while had been curious to develop confidence and fluency in my vocal expression. I was also curious how developing my vocal expression might encourage me to say what's on my mind more often! When I learned Amber was offering the 10 week Free Your Voice program, I had never met her, but I had already heard rave regard for her from several separate friends in my yoga community. I registered for the program without any hesitation. It felt great to be so clear about it! Amber's programs are one of the few places you can go to make noise and stomp your feet without attracting concerned citizens. I treasure the activities that provided a safe space for self-connection and expression. I felt healing being witnessed with rapt attention by Amber and others in the group. I felt rooted with a sense of place from connecting with traditions. This is such a great way to spend your time and stretch and grow your expression. Drawing and improv classes are great too, but *Free Your Voice* will only be around as long as Amber offers it or trains others to do so!

Love Amber and her classes!! If you have even an inkling of interest in singing (I love singing in…read morethe shower and in the car, when I had a car, that is), consider taking Free Your Voice 1 with Amber. It is so fun, so freeing and it will open up your voice in ways you never imagined. You'll feel vulnerable, a bit insecure - that is natural! But over time, you will be released and freed! You'll be in a group of people who feel the same way, and you'll bond and get to a point of comfort to let yourself go. Amber is patient and lets you explore your voice, yourself, and relationships with others through different exercises that will enliven you, stretch you, and challenge you in a good way. Her teaching style is so playful and fun! Give it a try - it was the best thing I did for myself earlier this year, and it helped me through a very poignant point in my life and career. I also took her djembe and singing class this year! I had minimal experience playing taiko drums, so no drumming experience is necessary. It was such a release to play djembe, expressing myself this way and through continued voice. I bought a decent djembe for about $50 from the Guitar Center. She sends you YouTube links to practice along with, and I still play it to this day. Loved this class too! I made good friends in both classes whom I still keep in touch with. We are forever bonded, and I am a part of Amber's circle. Amber is also in a 4-person band called Echo. If you have a chance to catch one of their shows, you definitely should! Such a great sound with varying international instruments plus they are playfully interactive. Go, Amber, go Echo!

I returned to piano in my 40s after playing as a child, and one of the things I've loved most about learning from Rachel is the incredible range and flexibility she brings to teaching. Our lessons can follow wherever my curiosity happens to lead--jazz improvisation, classical technique, sight reading, nerding out on music theory, or taking on an ambitious piece that might take us months to learn. She is equally at home with all of it, and somehow always finds music and exercises that feel perfectly matched to what I'm interested in at the time. Rachel has created an environment where playing music is something I get to do, rather than something I'm supposed to do. I have a demanding job and young kids, so there are stretches when I practice a lot and stretches when my lesson is the only hour I spend at the piano all week. There is never guilt or judgment. We simply sit down, make music, and somehow always have a wonderful and productive lesson. Over the years, Rachel has made music a joyful and lasting part of my life.

Taking lessons with her again has been such a gift. Rachel is an absolutely incredible teacher. I have taken lessons with her both in person and remotely and they are equally excellent. She has an amazing ear and can instantly hear exactly where you are getting tripped up even over video. Her ability to pinpoint issues and explain them clearly makes learning feel approachable and motivating rather than intimidating. Beyond her technical skill, Rachel is just the best human. She truly cares about her students as people and always takes time to check in and connect. She encourages you to explore whatever styles of music you are passionate about. With her I played everything from classical to show tunes to jazz and I even took a brief detour into folk guitar. Her openness and enthusiasm make lessons fun personal and creatively fulfilling. She is also wonderful with kids and I genuinely cannot wait until my son is old enough to start lessons with her too. If you are thinking about taking lessons with Rachel do not hesitate. You will not regret it.

She creates a safe and supportive space in our lessons and provides kind but actionable feedback as we work. I've seen great progress in myself and my singing voice over this time, and just as important -- I feel more confident too. Jasmine has also handled the new challenges of singing during COVID really admirably. Although we've been in remote lessons for a year or so now, I don't feel like the quality of instruction I receive has decreased at all. And on top of that, in lieu of in person events, Jasmine organizes regular opportunities for us to perform at virtual showcases. These are treasured opportunities and keep me feeling motivated and challenged -- and I can invite family and friends who live all over the world! I would recommend Jasmine to anyone, but especially those who might be nervous about singing or performing. It won't take long for you to find yourself looking forward to singing in front of people!

Voice lessons with Jasmine is the highlight of my week!…read more I have been taking lessons since the Fall of 2017, and not even a pandemic can stop these fun lessons! I miss our in-person lessons dearly, but since March 2020, Jasmine seamlessly adapted her lessons to a Zoom format. I first found my singing voice when I bought my daughter a ukulele in 2014, and my voice was as high as the soprano ukulele. Jasmine has since helped me develop and discover my full singing voice potential, chest voice and head voice. She has taught me breath-support and mouth shapes to facilitate my singing. She'll get as technical or as non-technical as you like! I love how she listens to any singing goal I have, and then helps me surpass my own expectations I have of myself. For example, I wanted to sing a song in French, but I do not know how to speak French, and Voila! Jasmine helped me break this goal down bit by bit, and sing a song that I had wanted to sing for years, but never thought I could. Jasmine even takes the time to host various performance opportunities for her students. When I first began lessons, it was not my intention to perform, but have done it 3 or 4 times, now, and always find it to be such a fun and one-of-a-kind experience! I love how she has the full-range of students, from novice to expert, and I think this really rounds out her teaching skills, seeing the many different perspectives of her students.
