This place is okay. I wanted to rent a bike to go from Strausburg to Munster, about 90 km. So not…read morethe Tour de France, but a somewhat serious all day bike trip. Their website said that they had "randonée" bikes. I would interpret that as a touring bike: a road bike with wide tires and a rack. However, they were much more like city bikes: heavy, step through, mountain bike gearing, wide seat. That is what many Europeans consider a touring bike, so not ideal but okay, fine.
The real problem is that the bikes are sized for French people, who are shorter, and there was only one size . I am 6 feet tall, and this bike was too small for me. Normally I would write something that is 59 cm, and this with the seat all the way up, was maybe 57 or 58cm. I made it to Munster, however it was not very comfortable. If I were doing it again, I would look for another bike from another shop that would fit me. I had asked year if they had nicer bikes that I could pay more for, and the answer was no.
I also had a problem with the guy working there. I came in on a Wednesday, and asked if I could reserve a bike for the weekend. He told me that they had so many bikes, that I did not need to reserve one. When I came on Saturday morning, I walked in, asked to rent a bike, and he told me that they were all reserved. Of course, I was furious, after I got angry, he gave me a bike. Still, it made the experience less enjoyable. He was otherwise friendly and helpful, but if you're going to say you don't need a reservation, then it has to be that you don't need a reservation.
If you just want a town bike, and you are less than 5'9", this place should be fine but make sure you reserve one. If you are taller, go elsewhere.
