Sadly, I hate to write a bad review, but I feel I must. I was visiting Biarritz and thought it would be nice to get out of the city one day and rent a scooter. No license required and they don't seem to be that hard. It was my first time driving one, so I admit that user error might be very possible. I got a basic instruction and was recommended to go around the block and practice before heading out, which I thought was a great idea.
I only had about 15ft before I came to a round-about and was to make a sharp right turn. Between getting comfortable with the acceleration, breaking, coming to the round-about and using the blinker, looking for traffic and trying to make the sharp turn...I lost control, hit a sign and fell off the bike, the bike falling on my foot.
I take full responsibility for my lack of knowledge, experience and the situation, but what bothers me about Cycle Ocean is that they owner asked if we wanted to rent a mountain bike instead and when it was obvious I could not walk on my right foot, refunded half of the money and then disappeared and did not offer to assist in any way. The neighboring business, offered their couch, some water, a place to sit and a ride back to the hotel in search of ice. I was very disappointed that though the accident was caused by me, that he would not have taken a greater interest in the well-being of someone who was trying to use his services. Plus he took 18 euros, when he first only said he would take 5.
Disappointed. read more
