I had a distressing and disturbing experience with the proprietor a few weeks ago and we wouldn't (and indeed can't) go back. The incident ended with him, Adam, texting a threatening message to my wife (he had her number from a previous transaction), followed by her suffering an abusive telephone exchange with him (unfortunate how he chose to pick on a woman rather than approaching me directly...), which ended with him hanging up. The astonishing story began when I went back with a laptop that had been fixed a couple of weeks previously, since the computer still seemed to have some spyware or similar difficulty that had seemed to have been there from before the repair. After cheerfully explaining this, I was expecting a quick and effortless tweak and hopefully to be out of the shop within a few minutes. Unfortunately, Adam's main focus seemed to be to lecture me on the dangers of younger members of the family downloading malware (even though I told him I had been the only one using the computer since the repair, on his suggestion) and he seemed to be trying hard to avoid blame for any of the difficulties remaining, insisting they had been caused by one of my sons. As it happened, I was interested in neither arguing the toss with him about this nor apportioning blame, merely to get the issue expeditiously sorted. Adam has always struck my wife and myself as having a somewhat manic and long-winded manner and this was obvious on this occasion as he became more excited and the possibility of a quick (or any) fix drifted further away. Indeed, no solution was presented or suggested. At a certain point, after about 20 or so minutes, I got sick of Adam's pointless rant, especially as he seemed to be increasingly keen to blame me, and I stormed out of his shop, computer in hand. Adam then continued to cause annoyance by texting my wife, threatening to call the police if I came back. When she, already distressed, called him for a 'please explain', he called me "a bad man" several times but was unable to elaborate when pressed. Interestingly, banning me from the shop also conveniently closed off any possibility of recourse due to any other difficulties or faulty work or the guarantee we had with a hard drive that had been installed. We subsequently got the computer in question, as well as a second one that had been performing poorly after Adam's fix, to another repairer, where substantial problems were found that ended up costing a further $350 plus dollars. At the end of the day though, putting the computers aside, nothing in the world excuses appalling behavior. Customer service? Clearly there are too many other options to get your computer fixed to resort to this establishment. read more
