Review Visit: October 30th, 2017 With my love for coffee and visiting coffeehouses, it is a surprise that this place popped up in Peoria without me knowing. My friend and I were actually heading to Riley's Cupcakes and Coffee Lounge for some caffeine and sweets when we found out they were closed on Mondays as of recent. Sad at the thought of not getting to try a new coffee place, my friend suggested we try the place a few doors down. Come to my surprise that there was a newer coffeehouse right there. So, in we went! [CxT] appears to be a new coffeehouse in Peoria, a city that seems to be going through a renewal of sorts... tons of new places, young places, fresh places... and [CxT] is a welcome addition, in my books. If cozy coffeehouses needed a photo, this place would be perfect. It's small with very limited seating but it's still open enough to feel inviting. Upon going in, we were greeted by one of the owners behind the counter and we chatted for a bit while trying to figure out what to order. Very nice fellow and I hope their company does well. My friend ended up ordering a Matcha Tea Latte while I ordered an Iced Caramel Latte. Oftentimes when I order my usual, it is either a bit too bitter or a bit too sweet, but the balance of this latte was a near perfect blend of flavor and espresso. It is easily a Top 10 for me. My friend said his Matcha Tea was pretty good. He had to explain to me what he ordered as I had never heard of it before. If you like their coffee a lot, they roast it themselves and you can get it in a multitude of flavors. They also offers some unique chocolates, which my friend bought and liked. They have these cool things that you stir in Hot Cocoa and it dissolves, giving it a new flavor. I want to go back and get a few of those things before winter fully hits! There appears to be art on one wall that is for sale. I didn't get a good look at them but they looked cool from afar. There is also a pretty decent-sized jewelry set up, if you need to accessorize while picking up some coffee. All-in-all, [CxT] Roasting Company is a great addition to not just Main Street in Peoria but also to Peoria itself. read more

They make a great cup of joe, if you're in the area it's miles better than anything Starbucks does.

The coffee is incredible. They roast their own and offer flavors unlike any others I've seen in the area. They usually have vegan-friendly pastries and whatever milk will suit your fancy for a drink. The main sitting area is very chic and cozy. There are spots outside as well as a little nook inside if you need a quieter area to sit. As for the service, i absolutely love these people. They're so friendly and welcoming, and don't just flat out ignore you if you aren't ordering like some cafes do. It's in a beautiful historic building that always gives me inspiration whenever i go there to get work done. read more

I was in Peoria last weekend and was super excited when I found this place on yelp. I couldn't wait to try it because they're photos looked awesome. I walk all the way there and found that they are closed for renovations. Looks like they don't keep their online stuff updated like they should so I would call and confirm that they're open before going. read more

I discovered this little local coffee shop while staying at a hotel down the street in Peoria.The storefront is adorable and could be missed among the other storefronts. They roast their own coffee onsite and so you can sometimes smell it in the evenings. In addition to selling a variety of roasts, they have some local pastries, jewelry, mugs and other coffee accessories. Service is quick and they upon at 7am so I was able to go prior to work. If you love coffee and a cute atmosphere, check this place out! Most importantly, the cold brew is very smooth and not bitter. It tastes great alone or with a bit of cream. I look forward to returning for my morning and afternoon fix when I am back in Peoria. read more

CxT is AMAZING. Glad they opened this location close to admin buildings downtown. Tristen is a phenomenal barista and cares about making a good cup of coffee. It can be easy to walk by so keep an eye out for signs to the entrance. If you're wanting a high caffeine drink, ask for the dripped ice coffee. read more

Cool coffee spot downtown with excellent service and coffee. It might be a good idea to have 2 employees making it as it would cut down on wait time. If you come here during the week expect about 10 minutes if you get anything but drip. They also have very limited seating and maybe 2 seats where you could set up a laptop. Coffee houses need plenty of area to study, work, etc. this place does not have that. If they did, it would be a 5-star establishment. More seating and less areas selling little knick-knacks would beva good idea. Still, a cool little place with superb coffee and an eclectic look. I'm on my third (I think, maybe fourth) bag of beans from CxT, and they've moved up my ranks to maybe my favorite beans in Peoria. I've gotten the Peruvian and Brazilian beans, and have nothing but good things to say about both of them. Each time I've gone in there, I've had conversations with Tristan about coffee. He is a man who knows his stuff and is willing to share his knowledge. Super friendly guy. I've also talked to his brother when they were down at the riverfront farmer's market, and he is also very friendly and knowledgeable. Today, I went in and got a 12 oz Kenyan (my favorite beans) brewed in a very niche pouring device, the Phoenix 70. After having a conversation with Tristan about kettles, brewing devices and various other coffee-nerd things, I left, took a sip, and it may have been the best pourover I've had in the city of Peoria. The shop has great decor and a great variety of coffee-nerd stuff, but just a forewarning, it isn't a sit-down-and-study type of place. There's not much food from what I've seen (various chocolates and "gifty" type food), but the coffee is top notch, Tristan is a great guy and the shop is relaxing. In terms of price, it's comparable to Thirty-Thirty up the road and a bit cheaper than Zion. Definitely returning. read more

Tristan roasts and brews excellent single-origin coffee. His shop is a short walk from anywhere downtown and he was a pleasure to chat with each morning while I was in town for a conference. Ask for a pour over cup if you have a few minutes to wait while he brews it. read more

Small but mighty, wonderful aroma of coffee roasting fills the air as you enter. Ordered the cup of the day, a pleasure to enjoy a brew without the bitterness found in chain coffees. Nice selection of coffee gadgets and local artisan items for purchase as well. read more

Wow. Had the opportunity to stop in and try an Ethiopian roast. Met the roaster/owner/operator as well who talked me through some of his methods. What an amazing location. Decor is spot on. Clean. Staff takes their time to do it right. Plenty of options. The coffee was superb. This is everything that a small business should be. Can not recommend highly enough. CxT is a great coffee shop and I'm kicking myself for not having tried it sooner. I had their Sumatra pour over and it was delicious. The location is perfect and within walking distance of Cat Buildings AB, LC, the courthouse, and other downtown office buildings. I was also impressed by the 'shop' section which was very well curated and had an interesting assortment of coffee accessories and tools. I'm thinking about investing in my own pour over kit and this is definitely where I will get it. I look forward to making this a regular stop. read more

Amazing new coffee shop in downtown Peoria. For the coffee enthusiast, they offer a wide range of single origin pour overs. The Kenya pour over and the cortado were delicious. The atmosphere is homey and very inviting. Awesome service. Great people and great coffee. read more

One star because they were open during covid. The first time we visited, the staff was smug and condescending. We wrote it off as a fluke and returned again to buy coffee beans. We were greeted with "what do you need" and immediately felt unwelcome and very uncomfortable. I tried to grab a napkin from the counter and the woman snapped, saying "don't touch that". There was such a lack of customer service and just simple friendliness that we will not be returning. Rather than educating customers about their products, the staff made us feel like we were a bother for asking questions. We will be giving our business to leaves n' beans in the future. read more

Yessss. This place is amazing. Run by a mother-son duo and with a small, fun atmosphere, this should definitely be your go-to spot for coffee. They roast their own beans, and everything there tastes super smooth. My dad and I are in Peoria for a conference, and so especially as it's kinda chilly out and within walking distance, that coffee shop has been our favorite place.
