Myself and my extended family have used Service Drugs since moving to Ridgeland in the late 1980's…read more Accuracy always compounded with pleasant service and helpfulness were our satisfiers. (One does not always get accuracy in other pharmacies. Know this from my work life.) This last week proved to me that Service Drugs is beyond exceptional. Having Glaucoma, I am extremely concerned about being compliant with the Rx eyedrops. The prescription was renewed on Monday. Thursday morning I could not find the new eyedrops. Knew they were in the house so began a search. Still not found by Friday...here I come Service Drugs knowing I'd have to pay full price for another. The service staff took my issue to the pharmacist. They tried an assortment of endeavors to obtain the health insurance price. Came back to share that nothing had worked and I'd have to pay full price. "Yes, do it" was my response knowing it would be most expensive. Hearing my response the big gun pharmacist, Hunter appeared. He shared that it would be $400 and it is in stock, BUT offered a suggestion for how I could use an app and possibly obtain it for less at a chain pharmacy. While lifting myself up from the floor, I left and followed the suggested solution. This was the beginning of my understanding of what exceptional customer service truly means. The customer service experience at the other pharmacy was horrific. After waiting for the attention of the clerk, shared my situation, gave all details and was told to expect a long wait. After providing my cell phone number, explained I'd be in their store getting a soda, then I'd be right back to sit in one of the pharmacy wait chairs. While patience is a virtue, mine was running out after 2 hours. Got into the 7 person wait line. Upon reaching the counter, was told that my insurance wouldn't cover by the new clerk. "Yes, I explained that to the former person as well as how it was to paid." Then, after checking, I was told it was not in stock and maybe another of their local pharmacies would have it. I did ask why I wasn't informed earlier especially since I provided my cell number before leaving the counter initially. The saving grace was after this person saw my face pale, she offered to call either of the two other area pharmacies. (I know this was an extended service as while sitting for two hours, no one else was given such a gracious offer! (I'll still not enter this store ever again.) The other pharmacy did have it at a cost of $168, they were very nice and service was fine. Yes, I did find the lost bottle the next day. After experiencing the pitiful customer service of another local pharmacy, I now fully understand that Tommy Shields of Service Drugs has grown a culture of creating an exceptional customer experience, exceptional accuracy and created an environment to allow the employees to go over and above. What a leader! What wonderful employees work there. Hunter, you are a blessing. MY THANKS AND APPRECIATION TO ALL AT SERVICES DRUGS, RIDGELAND.

She wasn't as pleasant to begin but that's fine, it's a job and people are required to be super nice. Since we have never used this pharmacy I had to complete a form and there weren't any seats available. So I moved to the checkout counter to complete the paperwork. Upon returning the form I told the lady that I wasn't sure if the insurance card was the most recent but it was the same insurance provider/group# etc. She seemed confused or annoyed or something but after her pause she said ok. So I left to shop around. They have some GREAT DEALS on household items, candles, local goods etc. When my husbands name was called and the prescription was ready the total came up and I asked if the insurance had been ran. The cashier checked and was told two reason as to why the insurance didn't pay! NOW MY HUSBAND HAS EXCELLENT INSURANCE! Something that's very rare in today's world! So his insurance NOT PAYING... just does NOT HAPPEN! But the surgery center called and my husband is in recovery so now I don't have time left to deal with this. The only excuse given on one Rx made sense ... but since the surgery was preauthorized etc., and since foe other reason I didn't believe it BUT again it was a nominal cost so ok, whatever! But the excuse given on the second Rx was a FLAT OUT RIGHT LIE! Period! Now never have I needed a PA AND wasn't not told until checkout?!? That seemed crazy to me as well! Usually is there is an issue they tell you immediately to be sure you wan to proceed with filling the script! Or at least that's how it works at EVERY MAJOR PHARMACY I've ever used! Now I was told that a PRIOR AUTHORIZATION WAS REQUIRED... 1st- IF SO, shouldn't the pharmacist start the Initiation process and or also notify dr. Office if they need to be involved? Considering the PA would never be the duty of the prescribed!!! 2nd- we get this medication ALL THE TIME!!! So how does it suddenly need a PA TODAY? Now this isn't our homemaker pharmacy, we won't ever be back!!! But Now I'm so mad! Because I know now she PROBABLY NEVER RAN OUR INSURANCE!!! I don't know if she just didn't want to be bothered! Or if she assumed the cost was so small or if she just THOUGHT!!! She knew what would happen... But again my husband is out of surgery and I'm pressed for time! And if I had spoken to her then I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN FRIENDLY AND I TRY NOT TO SPEAK WHEN IN ANGER! AGAIN, The cashier was SUPER GREAT! So I was upset but I also didn't want to take it out on her! Now to prove that either 1/2 or maybe 3 (she did something wrong) is true, I have attached a picture from the insurance providers website about the medication she claimed a PA was required on! Beware! Idk if this person is just incompetent, scamming people out of money, or just plain lazy... but if you don't frequent this! Beware! Also, NO ONE WVER CONSULTED WOTH ME ON HOW HE SHOULD TAKE THE MEDICATIONS! The one star is just for the cashiers and the store! Skip this pharmacy!
