Linda was able to fit my wife into her schedule last minute on a Saturday afternoon. Being new to the area, my wife was worried about finding a good hair stylist who can manage full thick hair. She came home looking more beautiful than ever! She went in with long dark thick hair that passed down her bottom, and came back with a short layered (shoulder length) cut. She was super pleased. I have had fairly good experiences here until yesterday. I went for a trim for my layered bob. What I got was a hack job. I had one inch pieces of hair hanging down that I had to cut off myself. My mom and I both get our hair cut by Linda at Cutting Loose Salon in Crescent City. Hair cuts are very personal, and just the slightest snip can really alter how a person feels about themselves. That being said, I have tried others in the area but really like Linda. She is open to discussing what you want, looking at photos, and being honest about how it will work for YOU. She is friendly and really cares about her clients. If you want to adjust something she will do it with no hesitation - like if you want it a little shorter when she's done she doesn't get upset or take it personally. She is there for YOU! She's also awesome about getting you in for appointments even if she has to stay late because you can't come in until after work (which is usually me). The salon just moved to a new location and offers a retail area, tanning room, and has an amazing concrete stained floor! They obviously take pride in how their salon looks, is run, and how their clients are treated. To the person who said she felt that they took too long on her eyebrows, I would recommend that next time you just let the stylist know you have a certain amount of time to spend so they KNOW. Everyone there is very friendly and likes to chat with clients and make them feel comfortable. So just let them know ahead of time (anywhere you go) what you need so you don't go away disappointed or mad. And to the person who said the stylist looked at the clock before letting you know if she could cut your boyfriend's hair - she was probably making sure that she had enough time before her next client (since you didn't have an appointment). That being said, I know not everyone's personalities or styles will mesh, which is the danger of doing walk-in appointments at a new salon. read more

I thought the woman where friendly and the time it took shelly wasn't to bad but the results weren't worth my money my hair didn't look anything like the pictures. The color was really off . I had to go back to take the color out .Then was informed I'd be charged more to lighten it back to its original color . Wasn't feeling to good after paying 130$ to ruin my hair... 'm confused by all of the good reviews. I asked for a base color for my roots and maybe run some color through for low lights because the top layer of my highlights were faded. The color was put on all of my hair as if I was starting over and then highlights put back in which obviously didn't get processed long enough because you can barely see them. Then, I was charged 140.00 and didn't even get may hair dried or styled so I couldn't even see the real results until I got home and styled myself. I have been to a lot different salons in a lot of different places in my travels and I have never left feeling like I just had a neighbor put a box dye on my hair. It is so dark, and so far from what I asked for I don't know when I will be able to get it back to the way it should be. It states on their site that they are color professionals, anyone can rub color all over your hair. I am beyond disappointed and upset that I paid so much for this horrible service. read more

With a surprising amount of places to get your haircut in Crescent City, I was not sure which to pick. I chose Cutting Loose randomly and I was not disappointed. The woman who cut my hair listened to how I wanted it cut and did a great job. I am usually a little nervous about getting my hair cut somewhere new because I can be a little particular, but she understood exactly what I wanted. When I've gotten haircuts places in the past, it tends to look a bit awkward for a week or so until it starts to grow again. After this haircut, that was not the case. It was a fair price and the service was good, will definitely return for my next haircut! read more

I went to cutting loose a few weeks ago after hearing what a great job Janna does from a couple friends. I am very picky about my hair and Janna did an amazing job. She asked questions to make sure I was getting the cut and color I was wanting. I have had many stylists just do what they think will look good and that was exact opposite of what she did. I will never go back there! I'd give this place zero stars if I could. I don't know about anyone else that works there, but my boyfriend just got his hair "cut" there by this older blonde woman. I don't know what was up with her but her vibe was all wrong, she seem to have too much on her mind. My boyfriend described exactly what he wanted his hair to look like, he described length and I found the picture on my phone where he liked his hair. He described it to her and I showed her the picture and even mentioned to her how important it was for me to have enough hair to grab. I went to the bathroom for a minute and when I came back... HIS HAIR WAS ALL GONE! She had shaved the back and sides and had taken about two inches off the top! I kid you not, I was in the bathroom no more then two minutes. You could see his scalp!!! And my boyfriend is 6'4, not necessarily the type a short scalp cut looks right on. Plus... NOT AT ALL, what he or I asked for. I sat down and expressed to my boyfriend "it's too short in the back, there's nothing there for me to grab" and I gave him a sad face. Suddenly she bud in and said in a very bitchy tone, mind you "well, it's not your hair, it's his." I was taken back by her tone, I tried to explain to her that that wasn't the point, the point was that he tells me how he likes my hair and I tell him how I like his hair...that's what we do...we're the couple. She still argued with me "It's not your hair"...then she proceeded to tell ME how MY boyfriend liked his hair that length and started rambling about how it was non of my business and then started talking about how no one has the right to tell anyone else how to cut their hair...then she made it personal about HERSELF and said "no one has the right to tell me how to cut my hair (by now she was frantic) you want someone to tell you how to cut your hair? What if we told you to cut your hair short?!!" We? as in my boyfriend and her? ... Um... WTF?!! I was taken back by her rude tone and the nerve of screwing up his hair and giving me an attitude for speaking up about it! THAT'S WHAT WE PAID HER FOR! To walk in there TELL HER what we want and if she wants five stars and happy, returning customers...um...idk...A) You Might Want To LISTEN to customers request and B) not be a BIATCH when someone expresses to you that that's not what they requested. I finally told her, "well this isn't about you, this is about Him and I and what WE came in here for." I was never rude to her, never raised my voice, can't say the same for her, she was frazzled. I don't know if she had some issue at home, was having a bad day, or just wanted to leave already... when we walked in and asked for the hair cut she looked at the clock on the wall, it was 3ish, paused and then said "alright." but you don't do that to customers, that's unprofessional and again, no one wants to come back with that unprofessional behavior. Cutting Loose is a comfortable and welcoming place. They take walk-ins, but, as most salons prefer appointments. There are four stations, Shelly, Linda, Janna and Helen. They all work together and ask what you want rather than assume they know. They offer color - also listen to you for that ;-) They support the community and have a selection of specialty products (but, don't push them). Scheduling seems to be well managed as I have not waited long if I arrive on time. read more
