I needed some chair bottom cushions re-upholstered as my dog has made it a habit of thinking wingchairs are for him and not humans. I purchased my own fabric and went to Cutting Edge on the recommendation of some neighbors on Nextdoor. When I dropped off my fabric and existing cushions, I clearly advised the assistant, Bernice, that I wanted the new cushion covers to go over the existing seat bottom and cover as these would be the dog proof covers that I could just remove when needed. The price quoted was wrong and when the owner, Kay, heard her quote my price she corrected her. The pricing was pretty steep, but I felt since my neighbors had recommended this place that I could count on quality and reliable work. The turn around town was said to be 2-3 weeks for the two covers. I received a call from Bernice that my order was ready about two weeks later and when I went to pick them up the original cushion covers were missing. She advised that she would need to find out from Kay and the person who completed my owner what they did with them, but since it wasn't spelled out on my receipt they throw away the existing covers. I told her that I had repeatedly told her the purpose was to make covers to go over the existing cover and cushion as these would be ones that I could take off after the dog had been on them if he got on the chairs. She was pretty condescending advising that if it was know she would have written it down. She ended up calling the person who completed my order and my original covers were in her car of all places and one was completely taken apart as it was used as a guide for the new covers. I had to wait additionally for them to sew the original cover back together. I had to make an additional trip back later to pick up my order and my original covers and when I advised Kay over the issues that occurred earlier, not to mention the issue that the order was clear when placed, she was pretty nonchalant and advised that it must have been a mistake and proceeded to collect the rest of the original order amount. No apologies, no concessions, nothing for errors that her staff did upon taking the order or their rudeness. This place wasn't cheap and the lack of customer service and fulfilling orders the way a customer requests is a reason to steer clear of this business. read more

We took some seats from a dining set to Cutting Edge to be reupholstered and get new cushions.The chairs were from Scan Design and over twenty years old and this was the second time they were reupholstered (the first shop did them perfectly ,unfortunately he is retired).The woman who took them in was helpful in selecting fabric and making suggestions. Her name is Berneice. The price was rather high. When we got the seats home after the reupholster job it was obvious they were the wrong size cushions. They were uncomfortable to sit on and looked totally out of proportion to the chair.We took the seats back to the shop to get them done properly. That was when things went downhill. A woman called Kay came from out back and proceeded to tell us the seats were done perfectly and any changes would cost us.I tried asking questions about how we could get the seats done as they were originally .Kay got quite defensive and responded with rudeness and sarcasm and would not answer my questions.She finally admitted she put the wrong cushions in. In a follow up phone call I requested that she redo one seat so we could inspect it before she did them all . She again was rude . She hung up on me and would not pick up when I attempted to call back .At that point we told Berneice to have the cushions done as Kay thought they should be ,realizing she would not address our concerns or answer our calls. We now have the cushions home and they still are not right.We plan on taking them to an upholsterer who can do them properly and in a professional manner. Contacted this company to get a chair reupholstered. Sent photo and was quoted about $325 and told I'd need about 6 yards of fabric. I approved and rep came out with fabric samples a week later. We searched fabric books, debated colors and finishes. I finally chose a fabric. That's when rep gave me the price of the fabric. Yikes! I've had this chair done only once before, a long time ago, and did not remember the process. Be warned that any quote you get will be LABOR ONLY. Fabric can double or triple your quote. Cutting Edge did not explain that in their quote. I guess I should have known it but again, I've only used an upholstered once before about 15 years ago. Anyway, embarrassed that I'd gone as far as I had, I oked the job and turned over the chair for work. They did it but the job took 2 months and cost almost $600! The resulting job is "ok" - I've seen better. The back channels and decorative piping are both a little uneven. The prior job was definitely much better but that guy retired long ago. read more

I have used cutting edge for numerous Upholstry projects including including two sofas a pair of French arm chairs, 8 dining room chairs,6 dining chairs for my family room, cushions for my porch furniture(sofa ,love seat ,2 club chairs ,2 ottomans and 8 dining chair seats) also several foot stools and atleat a dozen pillows. I have been very pleased with the work and attention to detail. Kay has worked with many thousands of dollars of designer fabric with super results. I am anal to put it mildly. If she can please me she can please almost anyone. She may charge a little bit more than some. All. Can say is you get what you pay for. I've tried cheaper and learned my lesson the hard way. I cannot say enough good things about Cutting Edge. Kay, the owner, is super responsive and incredibly talented. I am so impressed with the quality of work for the price. I never want to say this, but I would have paid double for her work. We sent her a large sleeper sofa and 2 antique chairs (my great grandmothers) and they look fabulous. She was easy to get a hold of during the entire process and did a fabulous job. I wish I had more items I needed to get reupholstered. read more
