The stylist asked what brought me in I explained the last stylist didn't give me the style I asked for. She then told me a was a problem client. Then duplicated the all the things I didn't like about my last hair cut. I explained I wanted feathered style then "corrected" me by saying I wanted layered. She wanted a trim and PHONZIE the most incompetent hair dresser ever, cut 9 inches off her hair! You might be asking why I didn't leave this review 6 months ago... Well, I didn't want to spend the time. However, my neighbor just came over and the same place and same hair dresser F'ed her hair up too. She wanted highlights and she ended up with the top half brown and the bottom half blonde.....WTF!!! They acted like it was her fault and charged her $120! True to its name, I got some cuts. The barber was pleasant and everything went well until she started to trim my hairline. The clipper she had was not a fan of my neck skin. I've felt discomfort with other trimmers in the past and tried not to think too much into it. It wasn't until I had persistent discomfort upon leaving and taking a glance in the mirror. The cut itself was good enough. I had to do my own touch ups as I didn't notice the long hairs in my fade. Never been here before, but they don't (at least didn't this time) provide a mirror to inspect the cut. Why is it impossible to find someone to do a military-style cut at a reasonable price? 2 stars for the lack of completeness and the burning cuts on my neck. Would have been a 1, but the barber was pleasant as she terrorized my neck/ear lines. read more

Stopped in for a walk-in hair cut for my toddler. I was greeted promptly and waited briefly before it was our turn. The woman who called us (middle-aged white lady with blonde hair) seemed less than thrilled to have to do a child's haircut. Her body language and her overall demeanor was pretty off-putting, but I knew it would be a quick and easy job so we powered through it. I would have liked her to interact with my child a bit as she cut his hair, she did a pretty rushed job but overall it was fine. I think her complete lack of communication with him made the experience a little scary for a 2 year old. Nothing spectacular, but a nice, standard boys hair cut. The price for a kids haircut is great, but the overall feeling like the stylist can't stand you was my main takeaway from the experience and doesn't really make me want to come back. read more

I would highly suggest NOT going to the place! I've given them multiple chances and every time I go they are rude and do a supar job. I brought my 2 year old twins in months ago with my husband for their first haircut and they are on the spectrum the lady was so rude and stopped in the middle threw her comb down and said "I can't do this one anymore and I won't be doing dad either" poor customer service skills and just all around rude. I tried again today with my girls who are older and easier and the same type of service! Talking down to me and just plain rude!! I am giving five stars to the hairdresser named Wendy at the Sun Plaza location. I am so happy I finally found someone who can cut long layers that was prevalent in the late 1970's- 1980's . Even when I showed a photo of myself, the hairdresser where ever I went couldn't get it right. I have had my hair cut twice by Wendy. Both times I walked in without an appointment and didn't have to wait. Wendy is personable and conscientious about me keeping my hair length. For you ladies looking for long layers in the style seen on many celebrities and rock stars. I highly recommend Wendy. I work retail and have received so many compliments on my hairstyle thanks to her. read more

I have been here twice and won't be coming back. I tried to give them a second chance, but when I did it resulted in 4 inches of my hair being cut off when I asked for a 1.5 inch trim. The first time I went, the stylist cut my shorter hairs (which were my bangs growing out) without asking me first and continued to cut my hair unevenly and too short. I had two different stylists and two negative experiences. I wanted to support this local business but their hair cutting game needs to step up a notch (or at least for women's hair). read more

I loved my first visit and thought I found a good, focused hairdresser. My second visit, which I called and scheduled with Kelly was the worst experience I have ever had!!! Kellly was completely different, she didn't realize I was there until another stylist told her....I sat there 15 minutes! When she finally got around to me all she did was talk, she was not the focused hairdresser I remember from my first visit!!! I had the worst hair cut here today I've been comeing to this place for years the guy has screw my hair up so bad didn't do what I asked him to do I do finger length on the top and a three on the sides I also get all of my head trimmed about half way in to doing finger length on top he tells me a number 8 will be just like he did finger length and he just kept on insisting on it I was getting. I had a good experience there the last time that I was there, so I returned hoping to get the same stylist. My stylist had a customer. I realize this is not a high priced salon, but I just wanted a trim. I thought anybody can do this. Another stylist cut my hair. She was super friendly, and well meaning. She was really trying to keep a conversation going and very positive. She's a good person and I would love to be her friend and/or to see her working with styles and makeup. I enjoyed my visit and was pleased to meet my nice stylist. She encouraged me to allow her to cut more than I usually allow my hair to be cut. My hair feels like it's shorter in the back than it is in the front. When I walked in my hair was far below my shoulders. Now it just touches my shoulders. I've switched to a different iron because my bangs are too short to style with a larger one. I like the swoopy, full look in bangs. Now my bangs are choppy and short and I'm having trouble getting them to feather or sling back at all. When I shake my head, my hair looks like a broom. I just don't see any shape to my cut. I will work with it and it will grow because it's too short for up do's now. The salon lighting is very strong. It shows all defects. My stylists talked about face lifts and how wonderful they are, including pricing and location. I visited the salon after a long day and I was tired and on my way home. My makeup had worn off. The humidity was high and my hair was waving and frizzing due to fog. I mentioned eye concealer after looking at myself in the mirror and noticing my age. I got a lecture on how to shape my eyebrows and apply eye makeup. I am sure that I would enjoy a make up session and the stylist was sincerely trying to help, but all I wanted was a trim. I'd like a stylist that asks me the day after how I liked my hair cut. So the next time I go back they can work with me to get a look that I like. My stylist isn't the person that styles my hair after I leave the salon, so it's important to me that I can work with it the day after. I want feel like visiting the salon is the right thing without question. When I go to Cuts R Us, I don't expect an aesthetician. I expect someone who can trim up my bangs and cut an inch or two off the bottom of my hair. Simple. My Mom used to do it when I was a teenager. Simple price, simple cut. Walked in with my almost 70 yr. old mom and my children today. I hate walking in to an establishment when people don't greet you with a friendly smile and a warm greeting. Told the lady I'd like for 3 of us to be getting a hair cut and if my oldest daughter likes the way they cut our hair, she'd like one too. So mind you that that would be about 4 haircuts today. Depending on the service we get, I would have tipped the ladies a nice amount for doing our hair. FYI we ate at Rockin' Tacos on the boardwalk lastnight and the waitress was super friendly and earned her tip of a whole $20 bill because she had EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE! Can you imagine getting $80 bucks for just a trim for a little girl, a buzz cut for a 4yr. old boy, and a simple cut for two adults? That's a GREAT DAY for me in my opinion. NEVER again! Cuts by Us is along the same line as Fantastic Sams, so it's mostly recently graduated cosmetology students, and although I wouldnt go there myself for an edgy or complex hairstyle, I would go for a basic cut or a trim. I took my sister, who is a tween, for a cut and style and was impressed by the style they gave her, which was a trim with layers added and a blow out. Something nice but simple that she can easily style before going to school, which is just what I requested! The total came to $20.00 before the tip, but they did spend quite a bit of time with the blow dry. I would suggest this place for trims, basic cuts for kids/tweens and men who work government jobs. read more

I had my long blond/brown hair bleached today to go to a BEAUTIFUL grey and it came out exactly like the picture I brought and exactly what I wanted. Extra kudos to Ms. Phonzie for going that extra mile for me and bleach some areas twice. She made sure I was happy with the results. Will definitely go back!
