The shop was busy and the chatter was friendly. I got caught up with all the Harbor Spring news just listening. My turn for the chair and Jordan worked his magic. He also shaved the back of my neck. All of that for $22 . What a bargain. Too bad I'm only up here once a year. It's something to look forward to next August. He also has another barber working for him so it's a two-chair shop.

I was up working in Cheboygan and got a rec to go to Petosky to get a haircut at a place that will…read morego unnamed. This was some post-quarantine, 4-5 months worth of hair growth, so I figured I'd splurge to get a nice cut. Needless to say, the place in Petosky royally f'ed up my head and they wouldn't trim my beard either. It is a time of a pandemic, so whatever. I didn't think anything of it. On the way back to Cheboygan I was trying to convince myself that the cut would work with a hat, and it just wasn't styled and once it was it would be fine. As I'm driving back to Cheboygan, I see Norm's on the side of the road and I think to myself "what the hell, I got some time I'll pop in and see if they'll trim up the ole beard for me"....I walk in, and immediately Melissa sits me down and exclaims that's she's "GOT to fix this cut too." And can't believe someone let me leave a barber shop with that bad of a haircut....anyways, in 15-20 minutes she had given me a beard trim, and also out of the goodness of her heart fixed my hair (thank God). And did a wonderful job I should add! Sweet Mellissa! I'm pretty sure Gregg Allman wrote the song about her. Anyways, Norm's is a great local spot, super low key and chill, with a friendly staff that knows their way around a scalp. Check em out if you're in the area.

We were lucky enough to find Vogue Salon and specifically Rachel and Katie. They were so sweet and most importantly provided great service. We were looking fabulous when we walked out the door and the best news is, they continue, 10 days later, to be perfect. We sure wish we lived anywhere in the state of Michigan because we would drive to get our haircuts with them. The salon was inviting to, it was chilly out and I was greeted with hot tea and a warm warm smile. Kudos to Rachel, Katie and Vogue.
