I too had walked past Cutie Q countless times eager to go in and take a look. I mustered up the courage to walk in, only to be greeted by silence by the sales staff who seemed generally uninterested in serving me. Frustrated, I walked out and figured I would just return at a later date.
I kept my promise of returning but I was just as bitterly disappointed by the treatment I received on my return visit. Yet again, I went on ignored in the store and was not greeted or asked if I needed assistance. The two staff members carried on their conversation (in their native language of Korean, may I add) one of them groaning when another white girl entered the store. The other snickered at the site of us both. Visibly upset the other woman rushed out of the store. At that point I wish I had done the same.
I carried the few products I desired over to the counter to be told the total for them was $90. I scoffed at this and questioned the individual prices immediately. $28 for eyelid tape? What a joke. At best, the Mezical eyelid fibres from Japan retail for approximately $16 and can be found online much cheaper. I ended up only purchasing 2 pack of lashes at $37 (after expressing my utter shock at the prices of the other products) which I believe is fair and the quality is certainly comparable to that of MAC though you are definitely not paying for service here.
Honestly, if you are white you may want to avoid shopping at Cutie Q unless you want to be made feel like a second class citizen in your own country. Never have I experienced such racist and immature behaviour from sales staff. Talking in another language in front of customers and clearly making fun of them is just unacceptable. It's also incredibly disappointing as I believe the Japanese and Korean women alike have access to some of the most amazing and innovative beauty and make up products. I am a big fan of lash brands such as Dolly Wink and D.U.P which can only be found in specialty stores such as this and online. After this experience I will definitely be returning to purchasing them online because they are a lot cheaper and I don't end up feeling humiliated.
