This is by far the worst company I have ever hired to spray my lawn. After several applications we still had a problem with mosquitos. One day my son witnessed the technician pull in and place a sign in the yard and then leave claiming he sprayed. It took us several weeks to get anyone on the phone to cancel our service and then they still wanted to charge up for the last application. I will never recommend this company to anyone. i had to post a positive review today. custom lawn care services our yard. they did this last week. we had some snow on the ground. we had Christmas decorations up. they accidentally ran over a cord and it broke one of our statues. when my husband motives it he carves a piece out of wood so i would stand back up. today they came to the door to apologize foe what happened. they gave me the broken piece, a template, and they made us a new piece. now that is custom service! most people would have done nothing. so thank u for doing the right thing. we appreciate it! read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I ordered ONLY 3 applications for my lawn between March and November 2016. I ordered this service by phone. I had my house on the market with a sign in the yard. I NEVER signed a contract and paid for the applications over the phone. I sold my home and left at the end of November. I am now being turned over to collections for applications they did without my consent. They state their invoice is a continuous ongoing contract until you cancel. I specifically told them I was moving and ONLY wanted 3 applicants so the lawn looked nice while on the market. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY or you will end up with a big bill!!! They obviously do not want to expand their service area to South Lyon and SHOULD NOT HAVE tried! I would let it go if they would let my $359 dollar grub x treatment go away since I never responded to their letters they say they sent in February and March. I do not understand how they can send you something regular mail in hopes that you throw away as junk mail or never receive it since it was not sent priority mail where you have to sign for it. Very shady business practices. After moving into our new home we realized the lawn needed some attention for the weeds and bugs. We signed up for the program to get us through the end of the summer which was three applications of weed & feed and three applications of bug spray. This was all we ordered. At the beginning of the fall season I came home one day to find in additional bill on my door for an additional fall application. I called and disputed this as we had not ordered the fall application. I was told that they usually record calls from customers when placing orders but they didn't seem to have one on file for our account (because we didn't order it). They refused to reverse the bill. This was so unprofessional and I never use this company again. I would never recommend this company to anyone. They never called ahead and you never know when you can come home one day to a bill for extra services they performed while you were gone and claim you ordered. read more

Terrible customer service!!! Purchased a six application package for fertilizing and weed control. Today is August 1 and I have only received 2 treatments, I paid for the package in full in April. I have called the office four times only to be told they would send someone out in the next three days. Still waiting. Their excuse, two staff are out with injuries, yet several of my neighbors are still receiving their services. Promised excellent service by salesman. Included- a review of lawn at first visit detailing any problems (never got). Prompt return to retreat any areas needed (never got). Called office a week after my first treatment- I had a lawn full of healthy weeds- some were actually flowering. No one came out to look at lawn or retreat it. Promises made at sign up are not being kept. Too bad actual service provided is not handled as well as the sales are. I could have done better and cheaper myself. When we moved, and transferred service it wasn't stated to us that the 7 step treatment would begin all over at the new property. Nor was it stated that our lawn would be fertilized during a snow storm. We had a hard time getting funds transferred to new address also therefore it showed we owed several hundreds of dollars until a third call was made to the main office. I wanted to believe that this was a good company to use, the sales guy was friendly at the home show, but we were solicited several times over the phone for grub/mosquito control and other lawn services such as aerating. The Mosquito control only lasts a week at most, and grubs were still in my flower beds in October, not worth the money. When I called Customer Service to question the last treatment (which was done the day of a snow storm) I was told that I didn't relay to the person on the phone that I only wanted the balance of the treatments and not to begin the service all over. I'm sorry but when I transferred the funds and address, why would I think to mention this - it was already Mid to the End of JUNE. What professional lawn service does a treatment when it's snowing and/or doesn't relay pertinent information regarding a service to being started all over half way through a Michigan summer or give any notification of when treatments would be done. To me this seems like this service is more money based than caring for our lawn. read more

I received a treatment on my lawn during the week of May 22, 2017. I came back home after Memorial Day and my lawn was burned. I called the office and I was told a manager would call me back. On three separate occasions, no manager called but they sent the same inexperienced technician back out to fix my lawn. I finally got a manager and he indicated that the technician was inexperienced and they were "working with him" and they would send someone else out to fix my lawn. I said ok, but I did not feel I had to pay for the treatment that burned my lawn. The manager said I would still have to pay. I then told the manager that I would fix my own lawn, cancel the service, and not pay the bill. Mind you, I was still willing to keep the service, but I did not want to pay for the treatment that burned my lawn. When he said I would still have to pay, that is when I said I would cancel the contract and not pay for that treatment and the manager agreed! I then received a notice indicating that my bill was late. I called the office again and they said that the manager did not agree that I would not have to pay for the treatment that burned my lawn and that I still owed and if I did not pay it would be sent to collections. It truly is not about the $25.50, but the fact that they expect me to pay for a treatment that burned my lawn. This is not good business practices at all and I would never recommend them as a lawn service. I finally got a call from Bob Ward and he indicated that I would not have to pay. I called them in 2018 and said I'd like to try their services for the year. I got 6 or 8 of their chemical treatments (they don't tell you what chemicals they use. I have a cottage and the service there leaves me a note every treatment letting me know what exactly what they put on my lawn) Frankly, it didn't make a difference in the condition of my lawn. I didn't renew and they dumped chemicals on my lawn in March without my approval. Insisted I pay for it and then turned me over to a collection agency. I thought I had purchased a group of lawn services for 2017 based solely upon their unsolicited offer received in the mail. CLS later sent some junk mail offering additional services and cleverly included an after-the-fact notice that implied since you were a customer, they would consider you signed up for continuous service unless you cancelled. I threw away their mailings since I only wanted what I contracted for not continuous service. We moved out of the house in January and they sprayed it in April without my permission. Allow me to first state that I am an engineer, and had done my own lawn for years. Over the past 5 years, I've tried multiple services and all have been adequate. I've used this company for 1 year and was not happy with the product or application. Their product caused grass to green rapidly, but while neighbors with other services lawns remained green for up to 2 months, my lawn lightened much sooner. Further, application technique regularly caused striping. Upon contacting customer service, they said all the right things, but nothing really improved. I had prepaid in full for 7 total applications last year. Typically, the company calls you toward the end of winter and aligns with you on needed services. Not this company. After I decided to fertilize my own lawn in mid April, I came home to a guy fertilizing my lawn. I explained that no one had called me and I never signed or prepaid for this year. The tech stated this was his fourth customer today that had the same issue. He stated this company regularly does this in order to force customers to stay and just pay. Upon calling the manager and politely explaining that I was never contacted, she stated there is fine print that their company has a continuation policy. She stated although I never signed or verbally committed, that the fine print holds me liable for their service. She said a collection agency would be contacting me if I did not pay. I had asked to meet half way, even though I feel it was their fault and I should not be liable. She would not budge and said I would be contacted soon by a collection agency. I hope folks read this and make a smart decision to choose a reputable company for lawn services. This company treated me poorly throughout! I have used lawn services for years and my lawn has always looked great. Received a call from custom lawn care with a promotion so I thought I would try them for 2018. They don't come to do your lawn when they are suppose to - I had to call them severely times to remind them to service my lawn. 3. They have horrible customer service and are rude. There are dead, bare patches all over my lawn which were never there, I have tons of grab grass which I never had before. Mid way through last year while they were servicing my lawn I noticed mushrooms starting to spout, which again I have never had a problem with. I mentioned to them numerous times this issue and was rudely told it was just a damp area! Then why in all the years have I never had this issue? You can research this online and find that mushrooms are spread from one lawn to another! After complaining They had the nerve to call me to get my business again this Now I'm pissed I have to reseed all these dead, bare areas! dig up grab grass and reseed! try to kill the mushrooms and reseed! I cancelled this service in 2016; very unsatisfied with their service. My spouse order a single service for 2017 last year, not to renew for continuing services throughout the year or 2018. I reminded my spouse not to use them. No other service was ordered yet they came out this year and sprayed our lawn and left a bill. I called to discuss situation and was told it's recurring services and you must call to cancel. What kind of scam is this???? I first need to enter into a contract in order to have something to cancel! Our dog was just diagnosed with cancer and the last thing we need is chemicals on our lawn. They did not care and stated they don't use chemicals. WHAT??? I would never recommend using a company, such as this one, whose policy is to assume a yearly contract based on having a single service completed the year prior. A big no vote for Custom Lawn Care! Initially, we did not plan to write this negative review. But after finding ourselves extremely frustrated with this company, we felt it was necessary. We originally secured Custom Personalized Lawn Care's services for the summer of 2015. Each time their worker showed up, he flew quickly through our yard, before moving on to the next. Throughout the summer, we endured plenty of weeds, including an abundance of dandelions. We were not happy with this, and so we secured the services of a new weed-control company for the 2016 season. Throughout the fall, winter and spring of 2016, we were inundated with letters from Custom Personalized Lawn Care requesting that we sign up for service again. Because we knew we were not going to use this company again, we simply tossed these letters in the trash. We were, therefore, shocked when we received a bill from Custom Personalized Lawn Care in April 2016 for services they performed. Services we did not want. Apparently, the company automatically renews every client FOREVER unless they specifically call and cancel their service. So in our opinion, the letters requesting us to sign up again were somewhat misleading. In fairness, there is a note on their mailings that mention services continue from season to season. So if you choose to use this company, please be aware of this. But, after 30 years of outsourcing our weed-control/fertilizing, we have never encountered a company that did this. Personally, we think it's a bit sneaky. When we called about the bill, we were informed about their continuing service. We immediately canceled service as of May 3, 2016. And although we were not happy about it, we agreed to pay their bill for the initial treatment (which we never ordered). Our new company came and completed our late spring application, and successfully obliterated the numerous dandelions left by Custom Personalized Lawn Care. On May 9, 2016, a Custom Personalized Lawn Care employee came to our home and completed another application right on top of the application we just had! Not only was our cancellation not effectively communicated, but this particular employee removed the notification sign left by our current company, leaving it lying on the ground. (Probably plowed over it!) And naturally, they sent us another bill. We will not be paying this one! Custom Lawn Care's weed control and fertilizing services were ineffective. When we initially called to cancel service, their customer service representative was rude and argumentative. The customer service representative also claimed that if we weren't happy with the service, we could have called them to come back out. Nowhere on any of their paperwork that we received is this option written. Bottom line, we do NOT recommend Custom Personalized Lawn Care! read more

If you think you have cancelled service or even suspended it, they will come and spray your lawn and MAKE you pay for it; or threaten to send you to collection. That's if you actually answer the phone EVERY SINGLE DAY when Liz calls "to discuss your account." Oh they will offer to LET you pay half for a service you never requested in the first place. Oh there is a notice, in small writing, on the crease, of the bill/statement that you can barely read. And don't bother trying to talk to them The owners, Paul and Rodney, they may tell you they will take care of it, but that just means they are passing it off to Liz to start calling you every day.
