This was over 3 wks ago and I still haven't heard back from him-even after I called him to see what was happening. They should have called us to let us know they were running late. When they arrived, they did not even say sorry and they said they can finish within a few hours. But at 4pm, it was not done but they said "we didn't finish but it's 4pm so we gotta go. We will be back tomorrow." We took a day off from a job and stayed there the entire day waiting for them to come. Then they didn't finish after they came here late and tire to come back next day without asking our schedule. Their work ethic was very unprofessional. The next day they came back but this time another workers and they told us the works who came the previous day installed the underlayment upside-down and not flush against the walls, which is totally wrong. To their credit Mighty Oak gave is a lil' discount for our troubles and their boss came to our house the next day, after the job was finally done, to check on everything himself. But before he left, he made sure to tell us that "it goes both way" and we were "rude" for calling them "unprofessional" and we should've been more understanding of their lateness (without a call) because "things happen." We didn't create the circumstances that followed, we just responded to them. This whole experience was a nightmare and it was very unfortunate that these people were assigned to come to install our floor.

So when I meet someone like Luis, it seems all the more incredible. After being ghosted, gouged, ignored and subjected to amateur work, Yorktown Painting Home Improvement is a d*amned miracle. Luis is polite and professional, called us back and showed up when he said he would for an initial walkthrough. That in and of itself is impressive, given our experience with local contractors. His bid was more than fair (it was half of our highest bid) and his crew was able to start the project quickly. Here's where it seems too good to be true- they showed up every morning early, worked until dark, left the job site neat and organized, and finished the job ahead of schedule. They did Sheetrock installation and repair, a bit of framing and painted walls, ceilings, closet doors and trim for us in our great room and a spare room conversion, and it all looks incredible. The attention to detail is clear, and we still can't believe they did so much so well in such a short period of time. I was blown away by our experience and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Luis. He'll be our first call for any home improvements going forward. Look at the Google reviews- 30 or more, every single one five stars.
