Ron repaired / welded a hidden broken portion of a desk stool-- I am able to get additional life out of a stool that is no longer replaceable. This past week we paid our normal dealer to have the boat "winterized for the year," and were shocked to learn they found the "old" metal flapper valves (that we had paid Ron to replace) floating around the lower unit. The new valves Ron installed were still functional and in good shape, but he apparently left the old ones in the lower unit - where they were rubbing up against the gears. Fortunately, they had not yet been shredded small enough to enter the main gearbox, although you can see the scour marks in the picture I uploaded. Again, let me state that Ron is a fantastic aluminum welder, however, he SHOULD NOT be categorizing himself as a boat-repair operation. Had we not caught this mistake until later, we would have been out thousands of dollars in additional repairs! read more

20 years ago I made a keychain for my dad. It's copper on top of brass, with the copper spelling out "DAD". Last week my dad called me to let me know my brother broke the keychain. I guess I should have read the reviews before I went. Some are good and some are not. My experience was puzzling to say the least. I called Curtis to do a repair on a BBQ grill part that needed about 5-6 welds. He got me in on a Friday night which was the start of the Memorial Day Weekend. He was quick and efficient. However, I now have the part home and it looks like the welds didn't take on all the areas. I'll see how it works out and update if it fails. My bad for not asking how much he charged. I figured it would be 15 to 20 dollars. He stated it was $40. The look on my face must have been priceless because after he took my money he wanted to show me his garden. Which I must state is impressive. Fair pricing is always good and would have got this craftsman a few more stars. Disappointed in his pricing. And, yes, he wants cash. read more

Mr. Curtis did a great job welding the hinges in my circa 1917 Stove. He welded metal that two other welders said was "un weldable" the hinges have held up since the repair and he lined up the broken halves perfectly- and he was super reasonable about the price too. This is about a tiny little break which made life impossible, because the crack was in the grate on my gas stovetop. One of the little cast iron pieces snapped (I can't figure out how it happened) & this made all cooking unstable if not dangerous. I tried to get help from repair places, wholesale appliances (no replacement available) a sheet metal shop who recommended a trailer repair place who recommended...everybody said this was a very special hard-to-do, unusual, rare type of weld & nobody could do it--nobody even knew anybody who could do it. Finally I thought of Yelp, Curtis was the first place I saw who claimed to do all types of welding, so I called him, & he said yes of course come on out. So I went out there & he fixed the thing while his wife showed me their garden. It was worth going out there just to see the garden, but now my stove is working & I'm cooking with gas. I can't believe that there is a bad review on here... well... I can't speak for his boat work but Curtis was about as masterful as they come in the art of welding. We are a touring band and we have a veggie van that runs on recycled veggie oil, with a hundred gallon tank in the band. We were on tour and driving from Seattle to Santa Cruz when it burst open on the highway during a 14 hour drive on a Sunday. Needless to say we were screwed. A friend told us about Curtis. He picked up on the first ring on a Sunday, told us to come down, masterfully welded Aluminum (not easy) and we were back up and running the same day. Nicest guy ever and it was SO CHEAP for work on a Sunday. We ended up tipping we were so amazed. He's a life saver and a master at what he does! read more

i had a metal art piece (swordfish) which the fin broke off. the material was thin steel (around .030") which is very tricky to weld. i found Ron and called him up on a late saturday afternoon and brought it in that day. he gave me a welding helmit so i could see up close the TIG weld he was doing and within 10 minutes it was fixed. he charged me a very fair price. afterwards he showed me all of his other hobbies such as making wine and his organic garden. supernice guy that can weld anything and willing to do it anytime. thanks again Ron & look forward to to seeing ya next time. read more

The seat tube on my aluminum cannondale synapse road bike cracked wide open while riding to work a few months back.
