Their fall festival is top notch. The kids have a blast, the wives can shop and the beer stand is quick and cold. Highly recommend

I purchased a membership with The Produce Box so I could send fresh produce to my mom who lives in…read moreCharlotte. I found out about TPB online and I really liked the concept of being able to choose what you'd like weekly, and I didn't really want to buy into a CSA. TPB hand-delivers your items, and they have a nice variety of produce, fruits, meats and even different sweets and snacks you can add to your boxes. The very first box my mom received was decent (note: you have to provide your own box)... except it was missing an item, and the quality of one bunch of fruit was poor/damaged. She informed TPB about her damaged fruit and also about the missing item, and they said they would get back to her about it. I definitely understand that mistakes happen, and items are overlooked... so I didn't see this as a big deal. I'm thinking TPB would at the least just include the missing item (or a reasonable equivalent) in the next weeks box, let her know... and problem solved. Nah... A few days passed with no follow up. So I shot out a quick e-mail, and I received a response back the same day letting me know they would look into it. Cool. However, a few more days passed with no follow up! Nah... Meanwhile, my mom received her next weeks box, which was fine. Problem is she is still sans the missing item from the first delivery, and she still has no idea when or if TPB plans to resolve the problem. I'm someone who believes customer service is equally, if not more important than the product received. I want to have my concerns or problems quickly addressed and handled... especially if I'm a new customer! Most memorable to me are the businesses who not only want to make sure you are completely satisfied, but actually follow up and quickly resolve your concerns. To this day, I still haven't heard back from TPB about the missing item. I shouldn't have to contact a business more than once, let alone twice... to get what I paid for. I have cancelled my membership. Mom wasn't happy about it, but she knows how I feel about spending my money on products offered from companies with bad customer service. Now Yelp knows too haha. Some are necessary evils, others aren't. I may have 99 problems, but TPB ain't one...

This week they offered "everyday hero"boxes for local teachers. I am amazed at the quality value and exceptional opportunities this company creates. Please consider.

Bless my patient husband... In spite of my constant gardening endeavors, I am always looking for new veggie sources. Poplar Ridge Farm is simply amazing. Poplar Ridge Farm is a completely organic farm located on 90 acres in Waxhaw, NC. The owners are passionate about sustainability, organic food, and educating and feeding their community. I have made the drive from Charlotte a couple of times to check out their Wednesday afternoon farm stand and I recently attended a delicious farm to table dinner located on their beautiful property. Amazing! Poplar Ridge Farm hosts open houses throughout the year to tour the farm and they also host farm to table dinners about four times a year using fresh-picked ingredients from the farm, prepared by a local chef. Our dinner last night was prepared by Chef Justin Sells from the new E2 Emeril's Eatery uptown - so good - can't wait to check him out at the restaurant. The meal he prepared for us was gorgeous and absolutely delicious. If you are interested in weekly doses of this veggie goodness, Poplar Ridge Farm also runs a CSA - Community Supported Agriculture - and they have over 100 shares of food going out the door every week. Central Charlotte is not too far north for them ... there has been enough interest in our area to get some delivery drop-off spots in my area. Check them out if you are interested in fresh, organic produce and beautiful herbs and flowers!

Depending on where you live, they'll set up a local drop off/pick up location. If you choose to get a membership, you can get a weekly or bi-weekly supply (if you go in with someone). For the winter membership, so far we've received herbs, bell peppers, hot peppers, lettuce, radishes, and turnips (and some other things that we weren't familiar with). We like supporting local farms and this is a great way to get produce that we may not typically purchase. Talk about learning to be a creative chef! It's a bit costly, but you are supporting a healthy lifestyle, farmers, and supporting the community. That's a big plus in my book!
