I also believe that my older son's smooth transition into kinder was thanks to the 'academic' and social learning he experienced at SMS.

I am SO glad I waited to post this review: GradePower deserved 5 stars from the improvements we saw…read morein my son's performance in school by the end of LAST year; but after the 1st report card THIS year, my intro "tagline" for GradePower is: "Anyone who is at all concerned about their child's performance in school should absolutely include GradePower in their child's learning!" Background: my son never really enjoying reading, struggled with writing, and was rather apathetic towards school in general. 4th grade Writing STAAR came & went, and he faired "ok," but our expectations are higher than just "ok." Come 5th grade, his grades were low B's in Language Arts and Reading. He had sights on an Academy middle school whose admission process includes writing an essay. We enrolled him at GradePower in November 2015. His personal curriculum at GradePower was geared towards success in middle school and beyond (vs specific focus on 5th grade). By the end of his 5th grade year, all of his grades improved and yet almost more importantly (to me), he CARED about his success in school. His essay writing for the Academy was absolutely successful: He was accepted! His time at GradePower ended by the beginning of 6th grade (Fall 2016). And now, the more exciting part...! We recently received his 1st report card (6th grade), and holy cow: He earned a 99 in ELAR -AP (English, Language Arts, Reading- AP course)! He absolutely LOVES school, and he attributes his successes to GradePower. As parents, it's one thing to recognize academic problems and to intervene within our own abilities and/or school tutoring programs, etc. It's another to invest in an adjunctive program like GradePower to improve the situation "right now." But, it's absolutely substantiated proof that GradePower's methods are effective when you witness the POSITIVE CARRYOVER in your child's performance and happiness in the next years! Yes, GradePower is an investment. But the investment in the lifelong success of your child: Yes, it is worth EVERY PENNY at GradePower! We no longer have concerns about my older son's success in school, but we know exactly what to if he does encounter problems. This year, the moment my younger son brought home grades that were "low," we enrolled him immediately in GradePower... may his successes result in a future update of additional praises for this awesome place! Thank you to Gordon, the staff, and to all the teachers at GradePower: You are helping to manifest everything your program advertises; but most importantly, you are faciltating the success of our children, the future World leaders. Thank you for helping my kids rise to & beyond their potential!!!

When we would try to teach him or tell him to fix a letter, etc, he would flip out, get angry, break his pencil in frustration. There was no way to get through to him. We didn't know what to do or where to go. As parents we were lost and frustrated. Enter GradePower. We were told about GradePower through a friend. We immediately scheduled a consultation with Gordon. Let me tell you Gordon is super nice, understanding, and knowledgeable. He listens and answer all your questions. Also, Gordon understands kids that struggle with learning or need help, as he was in their shoes once. Nick is also an amazing person, I swear they have the nicest, calmest, most understandable people working here. Our son is thriving we see it in his work. We see it in his confidence. We will be sending our daughter here once she gets into the higher grades. Oh and they are on top of everything. We have scheduled check-ins with Gordon and or Nick who give us feedback on how are son is doing, showing us his work, showing us his growth but also telling us what he needs to work on. GradePower has given us hope when we were hopeless. Investing in your child's future starts with GradePower. Thank you GradePower, we love you!

I spent the summer asking around about tutoring entities. I was in search of a place that checked…read morethese 3 boxes: 1. Received positive reviews from parents & teachers 2. Received positive reviews from the kids-they needed to actually say that they didn't mind going there, bordering on saying that it was kindof' ok/not bad/sometimes almost fun 3. Had a notable positive impact on the parent/child relationship. Mathnasium checked ALL 3 boxes over & over for multiple families, multiple parent/s, multiple kids. So we decided to try it. My kid was very reluctant initially but as we agreed that neither of us could stomach repeating the extreme level of stress that he experienced at the end of his 4th grade year last year-we agreed to try it. We are 4 weeks in & I overheard him on the phone with his 22 year old brother saying that it was actually kindof' fun. We have yet to enter the stress zone at school and he has brought home A's thus far in class. I expect the curriculum to continue to increase in difficulty but Mathnasium is most definitely giving him the tools and the confidence to recover from last year and stay on track this year. We are attending 3 times a week for an hour at a time. Kitty, who is the director of the Westlake location, has a wonderful sense about her students and her tutors. Each tutoring session, she assigns a student to a tutor, she seems to have a gift for this. This formula of "random assignment" along with the tutor's ability to govern the tutoring session (freely moving back & forth through a personalized binder of materials), seems to keep boredom and frustration completely out of the equation. I am also impressed with the open room concept. My first impression of this was quite negative but it just works-i was expecting more of a cubical/private type setting but this just works-I have now witnessed it over and over. I sit in the waiting area and listen to all of these different aged children being tutored at all different levels and no one is intimidated, no one is frustrated, everyone is learning, everyone is talking and everyone is happy. I feel so very grateful that we have found this place.

I drive all the way to Bee Cave from Westlake because we love it so much! Finding a school around here that supports both a younger and an older child can be challenging, but the Prep truly excels at meeting kids where they are while helping them grow and learn! The balance of play and education is outstanding. Each day, our 4yo comes home excited to share what she did all day! The teachers know how to keep learning fun while still building real skills, and it shows in our kids' confidence and development. The administrative team deserves special praise. We have sent all three of our children to the Prep and were one of the first families to sign up when they opened. The past few years have been good overall but the level of care has dropped significantly and my youngest baby was injured several times in a very short period of time. Based on the goodwill they have built over the years with us we continued to give the Prep opportunities to improve and make changes to keep my son safe. They said they would and completely failed. The photos below show the final straw before we removed our baby and another child from the Prep. Unfortunately, there were also other incidents were my child was injured and I was told by Prep management that "they would keep a better eye on him." We are reasonable parents with three children and understand that from time to time one of our kids may get a bump or scratch. The injuries my son suffered however go beyond anything acceptable. We repeatedly asked to speak with the owner, Heather White, but she never contacted us. We also asked to see the video of what happened, but the request went ignored. We filed a police report so hopefully they will have better luck getting the videos. Our feeling at this point is the owner is only in it to open as many locations/franchises as possible and make a buck. Clearly could not care less about responding to parents, oh sorry "paying customers," and even more disturbing could not care less about keeping the babies we are entrusting them with safe. If you are considering the Prep I suggest you instead leave your children with a pack of wild coyotes in the woods--they'll probably be safer...

No words can accurately articulate the amazing blessing Let it Shine Enrichment Academy was for my…read moreson and my family. My son is now 5 years years old and attended LIS for over a year (age 3 1/2 to 4/12) after being diagnosed with a developmental delay at 16 months old and was recently officially diagnosed with mild autism (which I knew from the beginning). We had tried a normal preschool/daycare center before (at age 2 until about 3/12) but eventually it just didn't work out for us because he was not able to be potty trained on the timeline of his peers nor was he able to stay still and attentive in a typical setting and needed too much 1on1 attention, despite being extremely intelligent and hyperlexic. I found out about LIS from a good mama friend whose children went to the regular preschool at Bethany Lutheran. I was anxious and not knowing where my child would fit in at the time. Teresa, the director and also an occupational therapist, made us feel comfortable right away and she impressed me with her knowledge about special kiddos like my son. I love that the school has specially trained staff in speech and OT and who are all extremely understanding and have experience dealing with special needs children and also are so loving and kind. The student to teacher ratio is lower than the standard and each kid gets so much special attention and help in so many different areas. My son absolutely loved attending Let it Shine and has made amazing progress during his time attending this school! This in addition to his regular speech and OT therapy sessions made such a difference and now he is prepared for regular school. He was the happiest I ever saw him. His teachers/teachers assistants are wonderful people who we will never forget and never begin to thank enough. Ashley, Rebecca, Robin, Leo, Kelly, Dolly, A'LESA, ALYSSA, and of course Teresa. You are all angels on earth. We moved up north to Cedar Park so we eventually had to change schools after I commuted over an hour each day for a month (that's how awesome this school is!) They helped my son finally get potty trained (pee) and now he is attending a school up north for all abilities but I will never forget LIS! THANK YOU for existing! You were an answer to my prayers and I am so beyond grateful for the service you provided.
