What If there was the most incredible Indian restaurant on the planet, in the most unpredictable location on the planet (Southern Finland), with the most misleading name (Tony's), with the most incredible food that can match the best 5-star+ offering in New York, London, L.A., Paris and most importantly the undiscovered household names of India itself, at the most reasonable price - and you found out about it by reading this review? Answer: you head over to Tony's, a restaurant with the most misleading brand on the planet that deserves three times the price and five times the smiles. Tip: the owner's real name is not Tony, he is Ashwani. He is an Alchemist. Bow in front of him.

Upon arriving me and my boyfriend received a friendly greeting. The place is modest but it has a nice atmosphere that makes you feel welcome. We placed our order of two samosas, vegetable kofta and lamb curry. The food arrived promptly and was packaged well. Our meals were tasty and generous. The nan bread could have been a tad softer but this is my personal preference. My boyfriend also pointed out his lamb curry had some slightly overcooked pieces, but most were great. Good value!

One of them met us at the table with some warm papadum. I ordered a Nepalese beer. The menu is extensive yet modestly priced, and the portions generous. We considered the "menu for two" but opted for separate main dishes since it sounded like too much food for our appetites. I had the lamb tikka masala (the exact name from the menu escapes me). It had a lot of flavor and I really enjoyed it. The decor and restrooms here could use some work. All in all, a great experience here for ethnic food in Helsinki. I'd love to visit again if I'm in Taka-Töölö with spicy hunger! Great value here -- excellent price meets quality. Bring your appetite!

We arrived early, around 6:00 p.m. and were the second table there. The restaurant began filling with walk-in customers about one hour later. We received two papadams for an amouse-bouche and ordered the veggie samosas to split. They were sizable samosas, one each, and the potato/pea filling was hearty and pungent. They were served with a small salad and two dipping sauces, one with a hint of spice and one savory. Hubby ordered the Mountain Chicken special, and I got the Chilli Paneer. First, the portions were HUGE. We regretted ordering an appetizer when we saw the amount of food in the main dishes! Both were served with a large portion of rice, small salad, plain naan, a bean side dish, and something I can only compare to raita -- although this was slightly sweet with a hint of cardamom (a must-try sauce!). The chilli paneer was not entirely like similar Indian dishes because the initial taste on the tongue was tangy and tomato-y, but the finish was a slow burn. Definitely not the three-pepper level of spice advertised on the menu, but eating in spice-averse Northern Europe, you can automatically adjust the stated spice level down a pepper or two from what the menu indicates. Hubby finished with a beer, and I had the obligatory Finnish "Original" Long Drink. The waiter offered tea for dessert, but we were far too full to contemplate eating more! Menu with prices is posted online, so check out Mountain if you're looking for Indian-inspired food with a twist.

If you didn't go to Cal and you didn't live in San Francisco, you're going to have to read the rest of this review to understand what I just said. Bottom line: it has the mood-ring lighting and kitsch decor of a university-town bar, the cushy coziness of places like Cassanova and the questionable nature of places like Delerium or The Make-Out Room. And... It's. In. Helsinki. This place is the bomb (can I still say that without getting red-flagged by national security or unfriended for being old as a rock?). It's conveniently located down the block from my yoga studio. So I can go from down-dog to down for the count in a matter of minutes. They have specials, too, so I've had some hella (what?! I just used "bomb", too, so shut up) dope (see?) mom's nights out here. The thing is, I like to not act my age so I've also had some really good nights out with friends who round down to 20 vs up to 30, too. Something for everyone! I should also mention there can be dancing here, and I've danced both alone AND with the crowd at Bhangra. On both the floor and on the...nevermind. During the week, it's pretty quiet at happy hour time. The bartenders are funny as all hell and the place is owned and operated by the same special people from Sailor Jerry's. There's not a lot else to say besides GO HERE!

I notice that doesn't always go over well here. Too bad. On that note, Satkar is by far and away the closest thing to the REAL Indian food I grew up with in San Francisco, the land of cheap, delicious, authentic ethnic foods. Satkar is like the best of both worlds: outstanding and authentic Indian food at dirt cheap prices at lunch time (€8.50 for lunch deal - main, side, raita, rice, salad bar, and potato salad or special salad of the day), fantastic service, and a really lovely and comfortable interior. The Aloo Ghobi and Chicken Tikka Masala exceeded all expectations and the service is quite honestly among the best I've enjoyed in Helsinki in 2 years. Smiles, conversation, a genuine interest in whether or not we enjoy our meal...where am I!?!?!? Since moving here, I've been unhappy with the lack of really good Indian cuisine but Satkar has changed all of that. Satkar is now in my Top 5 favorite places to eat in Helsinki. Outstanding! Bravo! Even if the food was just ok, I'd come back again and again for the wonderfully warm customer service alone. Thanks for making me feel at home and thanks for filling my belly with the best saag aloo ghobi I've had in 5 months or so.

The order was ready in under 15 minutes. The food was well packed and they added papads and raitha to the order. The food tasted authentic. Variety of veggie dishes - chickpea curry, paneer with peas, daal (lentils), chicken curry, naan bread, rice, and yogurt. The yogurt was slightly tart and super thick (greek yogurt x 3) - liked the tasted but not the consistency. Enjoyed the chicken curry but wish it was boneless. Paneer and daal were favorite dishes - which is a big deal for a carnivore! Did not care for the piece of rollcake served for dessert - tasted like out of convenience store bag. Service: 3 stars. Our group had a special buffet meal setup. Food was replenished in the beginning but not towards the end. No extra plates provided for refills - people had to reuse their original plate which is hygienically a bit off-putting. Our pitchers of water were refilled on initial request and then automatically thereafter. Bottom Line: Food was good but service needs some work. Would revisit for takeout or non-buffet meal.
