As a Northern Beaches girl for life, I'm always at the beach. And I have to say that Curl Curl (Or, let's be serious, Curly) is my absolute fave. It's a big, sweeping beach that's longer than the average - great for a contemplative walk or an intense jog. With its sheer size (Curly is actually North and South Curl Curl), there's plenty of beach for all - if you're not in the mood to deal with nippers, teens with attitude or beach huts as far as the eye can see, you can always wander down and pick yourself a nice little patch on the sand out of earshot of others.
However, be aware of the rip - it's certainly there, rendering Curl Curl slightly more tumultuous than its southern neighbour, Freshwater. Consequently, it's also popular with surfers - sometimes a hazard if you choose to swim outside the flags.
With three big Warringah Council carparks, it's never too hard to find a park. But, beware - Curly is on the bus line, and is therefore populated with school kids most weekends. A small price to pay for a day in paradise. read more
