I have been going to different MTs all over the GTA and in my opinion, Joan is truly the best one! Everyone and everything about the place was great! I called several days earlier to book Joan (recommended by a friend) and the receptionist whom I spoke with was friendly and accommodating. I love that they give you an email reminder the day before so I wouldn't forget the appointment. The place was super clean and the fact that I booked the massage for 8am, there was no one there besides the MT and I, making the place nice and relaxing. I really hate to go to places where the walls are thin and I can hear people talking outside. The massage was seriously the best! Joan was super nice and made sure I was comfortable. She definitely focused on the areas that needed more work (shoulders, upper back). Perhaps it is because Joan is a Athletic Therapist, but she knew exactly how to go about the problem. I'm writing this review to clarify Peter's bodywork. I often see reviews for massage that say very…read morelittle to enlighten you and it's so subjective. Saying things like,"excellent massage" aren't helpful for clients looking for a specific type of work. I'll break Peter's work down into a few categories which are all of equal importance: KNOWLEDGE - Peter has an encyclopedic understanding of anatomy of the human body. He knows all the muscle (not just the main muscle groups) along with their origin and insertion points. Why does this help? Because you can work muscles along any of three points: origin, insertion and the muscle belly itself (as well as the fascial layers). With this knowledge and understanding of the location, you can work a particularly stubborn area a multitude of ways that are harder for therapists that don't have a good working knowledge of anatomy. Peter was also previously a personal trainer and is a current bodybuilding competitor so he knows the body from different perspectives: a normal person, an athlete, and a trainer. INTUITION - I am a massage therapist and it's rare to find another therapist who has Peter's level of intuition. This is obviously more subjective and harder to quantify (and likely something that's not even noticed by non-therapists). What I mean by this is his ability to listen/feel the muscle and to know precisely when to stay on it, when it's about to release and when to push through it. This is a skill that you either have or you don't. I have been to many massages where the therapist has zero intuitive sense of the body and they basically force their way through the muscles. This results in unnecessary additional soreness and doesn't help to relax the muscles. This makes his sessions less painful (compared to an un-intuitive therapist) and more effective. The body gives you clues when it's ready and Peter listens! PRESSURE - also a subjective area. Pressure, to me, is enough force to cause release of the adhesion. With an un-intuitive therapist so much force is used that I'm gritting my teeth, I've stopped breathing and I'm involuntarily contracting the exact muscle they are trying desperately to release (causing the therapist to use even more force to get it to release: result unnecessary soreness and likely the muscle never even fully released and still causes pain). I love deep tissue massage and I have a fairly high pain tolerance and I found that Peter was phenomenal about taking you right to that edge (where the pain building and could get very intense quickly but doesn't). If you listen to the body, it tells you exactly how much pressure is needed. I was recommended to Peter by my brother upon my visit to Canada. I was pleasantly surprised to find he had such a well rounded combination of skills, which makes him a PHENOMENAL bodyworker. I will be setting up a massage with Peter every time I visit my brother...or maybe I'll see my brother every time I come to visit Peter ;-).

Okay, I don't know why I've never heard of RMT Movement before because they've been around for…read moreyears and they're literally the first place that pops up when you google 'massage Brampton'. Anyways, thankfully my gf discovered them and recommended I try them out. Best decision ever. First of all, their online booking system is hella convenient. In addition, surprise, surprise, TONS of evening and weekend options available. They're even open on Sundays! It's really hard to book last minute evening or weekend massages, but they're pretty flexible here. I had booked a Saturday appointment for the first weekend in November with Leana (my friend recommended her, after a session with her), but my body was super sore I couldn't take it anymore. I booked for the soonest weeknight, which was 5 days away. They also have the option to fill out your pre-appointment forms online, which again, totally convenient! When you get there, there are no forms to fill out. Simply just have a seat and wait. While chatting with Leana, she mentioned they had only been at this current location for about a month. Lucky for me, this is closer to my home. I like how they have diffusers with different oils, but I wish they would blast the mist or pour in more drops cuz I'm tryna breathe all those good scents in lol. Anyways, Leana was great. She got a sense of my stiffness and what was bugging me by making me do some stretches before the actual massage. She applied a heating pad to my sore back and shoulders while she worked on my legs. I have never had this done before. I like when new and different techniques are introduced to me. It's totally boring when people do the same techniques over and over. She definitely got the knots out of my shoulders. This is what was bothering me the most. She also smoothed out my neck muscles and I had way more mobility after. I feel way better now and I can't wait to return in two weeks!

Clinic knows you will not be back so just tries to steal your one time business under false pretenses (that you just need to manually submit claims). He asked about my insurance when I was making the appointment and I told him, and be said for this insurer I have to manually submit. He did not disclose that the clinic is completely delisted, which is what he is supposed to say. Nice to your face but super sketchy and will stick you with the bill he knows his clinic is not allowed to claim with your insurance, but lies to you and makes you pay upfront and deal with it. During my 6 week post surgery visit with my surgeon, he was extremely pleased with my progress and my range of movements.
