However, they already withdrew my $75 back in November. Why would they take my money when application was incomplete, and they didn't perform child assessment yet. Long story short, they gave out absurd excuses and the whole process was just a mess. Big waste of time and money. Out of multiple schools I applied to, this school was by far the most disorganized, money-driven school. I highly doubt quality of education from this school. I'm glad my child will be attending other school.

I've had my daughter in another Spanish immersion preschool in NOVA, so I came in with a point of comparison -- and Michuchutren is a million times better in every way. From the very beginning, we were struck by the warm, welcoming environment and the Montessori-inspired setup where children learn through play and hands-on activities. There's no busywork here -- everything the kids do is intentional and thoughtfully planned. It's a mixed-age classroom, and it works beautifully. The younger kids learn by watching the older ones, and the older kids rise to the occasion, taking pride in being role models. It creates an incredibly positive dynamic and natural learning flow. The Spanish immersion is top-notch. The kids not only finish speaking Spanish fluently -- they live the language every day through songs, storytelling, and play. My daughter learned to read and write in Spanish here, and watching her language skills grow so effortlessly has been amazing. The Christmas and end-of-year presentations (all in Spanish) are a true testament to how much the kids learn and how much joy they find in it. A huge part of what makes Michuchutren so special is the staff. Angie, my daughter's teacher, is beyond incredible. She is soft-spoken, kind, patient, and deeply caring -- all while maintaining calm and consistent control of the classroom. Her presence is steady and reassuring. My daughter adores her and often tells us that when someone misbehaves or breaks a rule, all Angie says is, "It's okay, you're learning." That level of compassion and respect for children's growth is rare and deeply appreciated. The directors, Pilar and Andres, are equally wonderful. They're warm, approachable, and genuinely attentive to the needs of both children and parents. They've created a space where families feel seen and supported. After two years here, I can honestly say I haven't met a single parent who isn't thrilled with their child's experience. The community is tight-knit, and the love for this school is unanimous. If you're looking for a preschool where your child will be immersed in Spanish, nurtured by incredibly skilled educators, and grow socially, emotionally, and academically in a meaningful way -- Michuchutren is it.

The lead teacher of the toddler room, Atsupi Anthony, gave our 16 month old a cup of laundry detergent which she tried to drink, in addition to dish soap and hand soap. The only reason we know it happened is that she sent us a photo of it with a caption describing it. The Friday before this incident we had spoken to the director about other concerns with Ms Anthony's judgement. I observed her yelling to another teacher not to give a toddler food after his cheese stick fell on the floor ("he needs to learn a lesson and not drop he food") He's under 2, kids drop things. The director said she would investigate and counsel Ms Anthony, that we should trust her because she has many years of experience and parents love her. We notified the regional manager about the laundry detergent and Bright Horizons has, in accordance with their HR policy, decided to counsel her and leave her in charge of the class. Their policy is to counsel, reprimand and then terminate. The regional manager said that Ms Anthony doesn't have anything in her record, that the yelling incident was not recorded and they have to start with counseling her. I'm not sure you can counsel good judgement into someone and am not going to let her practice with my child. For these reasons we are concerned that Bright Horizons does not take safety seriously and have chosen to remove her.

Our daughter has been there for the past two years since she started daycare at four months. She loves all of the teachers she has had and is learning so much! My daughter is so happy to be there and we truly feel like her teachers are part of our family too. It makes us feel so great that she enjoys it so much and she is very well taken care of. As first time parents, everyone was so helpful too with our transition to daycare and all of the updates and pictures from the day help us to feel in touch with what is happening in her day.

When I say it's a great school, both my kids who didn't go anywhere else prior to here and are very clingy, it was an insanely easy transition for them. they loved school to the point they didn't want to miss days, always proud of their projects and enjoyed seeing their friends outside of school. As expected, it kind of depends who's going to the school, as far as the events outside of school. Parent involvement/initiative fluctuate as well as affluence, e.g., one year end of year celebration/fundraiser for the parents was a golf course and then the following year at the school, etc...

I regularly received email updates on what the class was learning, they shared photos and even did conferences to outline their curriculum goals and my son's progress as it reached to them. I shared this with my best friend and cousin who is a preschool teacher and she was blown away by the level of engagement and communication we told her we had with not only his teachers but the directors. The curriculum is play-based, which is what we wanted. Learning through play has many benefits and we wanted this to be a fun and engaging experience for our little guy. And it was! I was initially thinking it was crazy to send a 2 year old to preschool but it turned out it was so much fun and he loved leaving to go to "school" each week. In addition to LANK being a fantastic educational experience for my son, it feels like a really close-knit community of caring parents and caregivers. Both my husband and I have met so many families that we have now become friends with through the many activities for families throughout the year. An added bonus! I highly recommend this wonderful school - a cornerstone in the Reston/Herndon community.

Washing hands, sharing, helping set the lunch table, helping to cleanup, and more. They engage in redirecting behavior that can be distracting to other children. As a parent, this is a technique I was not aware of and I'm glad to have learned. I now use redirecting instead of timeout. The classrooms are designed for each age group. There are plenty of learning activities as well as fun toys, such as Legos. Every day my son participates in circle time, where his teachers provide instruction on the topics that they are reviewing. There is also plenty of outdoor playtime and one nap a day. Naptime/Quiet time is around 130 and is for two hours. The teachers are fantastic! They are not daycare workers they are certified teachers. Each classroom has a headteacher with two or more assistants. They are very organized and have activities planned for each day. I'm surprise my son doesn't come home with homework at 3years old :) Every day I am happy to take my son to Falls Church McLean Children Center because I know he's going to have excellent care and education. There are other programs parents can take advantage of through Fairfax County, I don't participate in those however they are available if I need them. Speech therapy is one of them. The office staff is very helpful! Miss Kathy, the director has a lot of experience in her field and it reflects in her management of the center.
