Once we got back to the hotel, we enjoyed drinks with a view at the rooftop restaurant (High Stakes), and then relaxed in our super comfortable room. I meant to get up and check out the gym in the morning, but ... next time. Coffee and a fantastic breakfast burrito at the lobby cafe was the perfect way to start the next day. Staff was friendly and welcoming!

Several friends of ours wanted to book the same hotel so we could spend some time together after the show. One of our friends found a good Groupon deal for this hotel. Considering we booked it kind of late, we were glad to get the deal. It was a king bed for $137. Parking was extra, but we got a break on that as well. We felt like it was a pretty good deal for that area of town for New Year's Eve. When I book a room online, I'm always a little anxious checking in because I have had things go wrong before. I have actually been turned away from a room that I have paid for. I was relieved when I mentioned my reservation to the desk clerk and I was greeted with a warm welcome and keys to our room. The lobby area looked clean and welcoming, and there was a little bar as well, but we were anxious to get upstairs and get ready for the evening so we didn't stop at the bar. We did hear that they were having music upstairs and later I found out that they had one of the best local jazz artists in town playing at their High Stakes rooftop bar. If we had not already had plans, I would've definitely sprung for tickets to that if they had been available. Our room was clean and comfortable. It was appointed with everything you would need and more. Coffee pot, refrigerator, hairdryer. It had a nice size shower and a very nice vanity area with a large lighted mirror. I love sitting there and getting ready for the evening. My husband kicked back and enjoyed the large screen TV while I primped. We went out and enjoyed our evening. When we got home, a group of us who had been out together, decided to have a little after party in the common area in the lobby. If the bar had been open, we would've definitely spent time there, but by the time we got back to the hotel, the hotel bars were closed. We brought food and some drinks down to the lobby and we enjoyed our time together. The hotel staff didn't seem to mind. People were still coming in and out. Once we went to bed, we noticed in the morning that we got a great night sleep because the bed was very comfortable. As a matter of fact, I said I wish I could take that bed home with us. Check out was at 11 AM. There was no knocking on the door or pressure to hurry up and get out of the room, although we were out promptly by 11. Everything about the hotel room and as far as we could see, the whole building was in great working order. The only thing was the cover to our key sensor on the door fell off a couple of times. But that really wasn't a big deal. Everything was clean, comfortable and updated. Checkout was busy, but moved along at a good pace and uncomplicated. I have nothing but good things to say about. Tempo. I would stay there again and recommend it to others.

The room is nice. The shower temperature and pressure are good. Toilet is in a separated room. The design is a little weird to me. Once you enter the room, you see the big sink with towel/lotions/hair dryer. I feel they could have moved that in between shower and toilet and free up the space at the entrance. Nonetheless, it's a good bathroom. Beds are comfortable. We have 2 beds. 4 pillows on each one. It has a street view facing YUM center. TV, refrigerator, coffee station, a little bench against the wall. They packed a lot of stuff in the room. When I put down our luggage, there's not much room to walk. Parking garage across the street (daily fee $22). once you exit, you will have to pay again. Valet parking is $47. Breakfast was wonderful. We got credits as Marriott members so didn't have to pay extra (order to made not buffet). The staff were all very friendly. Also many restaurants around the hotel. Very convenient location.

The only real impact was that the bathroom was split into a toilet room and a separate shower room, with a hall in between. Completely manageable, just a little odd. We were more put out that they'd not mentioned the change at all. We were also placed on the 4th floor, immediately above very busy and very loud main street. I've never been a fan of soft water, and they do treat the water, so bring a scrubber if you want to get clean in the shower. Several of the doors in the suite are sliding barn doors, which can be a bit loud and unwieldly. The room could be kept dark and cold and the bed was comfortable, so ok for a good night's sleep, they just lack any good foam pillows which we prefer. Failed to connect our device to the TV - the HDMI ports are accessible, but the TV throws some error message when trying to use another device and the message can't be closed without unplugging the device and restarting the TV. At least they have Netflix. An attractive hotel, I liked the style of the place, and the prohibition repeal theme. Just too many bumps to get them to 5 stars. At least there are several alternative high end hotels convenient to downtown.

Check in is at the bar, no stuffy hostess station. So check in your room and order a drink at the same time! At this particular location, trying to bring your luggage in could be a challenge as there is no parking on site. There is a parking garage down the street. You can pay $25 for overnight or $35 for in and out access. That said, you have to double park, run your bags in, then drive down the street to park, so that's kind of odd. Also no valet if you are like me and used to that at hotels. The rooms are small. Kind of remind me of "tiny house" living. So don't come in with a whole lot of stuff, there isn't a ton of room but you have everything that you need. Also if you need an iron/ironing board, they have one on each floor near the elevators because there is really no room in your hotel room to have them. On Friday night the hotel has a DJ in the lobby! LOVE LOVE LOVE that! He would even take requests. You can dance down there and chat with other people just a lot of fun and bonus the bar doesn't close until 1am! There is also food you can buy (tacos) so when you are coming in late no worries food is there! Nice touch. Really enjoyed the hotel and looking forward to trying other Moxy's in other cities!

I was a bit out off by the limited base hours. It's Louisville. Should've the bar open before 5pm on a Sunday? She explained that the bar is separate from check in and the kitchen or something, and they couldn't justify bringing in a bartender. Just makes no sense. How somebody that can check people in and pour drinks. It wasn't that just. The good ... Location. Convenient to Yum Center, downtown bars and restaurants, Roots 101 (super recommend this), and the Muhammad Ali Center (further but walkable). The bad ... The rooms. The rooms are tiny. Not much room for more than the bed, shower, and restroom. You definitely don't want to have 2 people. There's no place to lounge at all. My housekeeper didn't come a couple days I was there. My bed was never made up. But, I did come back to some fresh towels. We only stayed here because a group of us came from California for the Cal-Louisville game. Had I known the rooms were this small, I would have stayed elsewhere. But, I understand that this is their "thing," so I can't fault the hotel. If you're looking to save a little and don't mind a small room, this is a good spot. But, is your tastes are more for a larger room, stay away.

Once I went when they had Korean based art and it captured the beauty of the oriental style in a modern look and there was a story telling room where each art piece told a continuous short story which was such a neat concept! Last night when I had visited my partner and I got greeted by Darrel the security guard and he was very friendly and accommodating! Art can make you think, smile, and even laugh! Instead of complimentary breakfast, we were charged $36 for a breakfast card that only had $36 in value - so we essentially paid for our own breakfast. To make matters worse, when we ordered, a single dish cost $22, which meant the "free" breakfast card didn't even cover one meal per person. This feels like false advertising. If you're going to charge guests $36 for breakfast, don't advertise it as "on us" or complimentary. Just be honest about your pricing. I expected transparency from this hotel, and instead got a confusing billing practice that left a bad taste - and not just from the overpriced food. I would not recommend staying here if you're expecting the advertised "free breakfast." In addition the pillows are HUGE and the front desk had no other options.

There is no better location to watch Thunder Over Louisville. Planes fly directly in front of the hotel, the drones are easily viewable from the balcony, and the fireworks to cap it off are unlike anything you'll ever see anywhere else. Fireworks are fired from two barges as well as the George Rogers Clark Memorial Bridge. Safety is their #1 priority as evidenced by the unbelievable amount of security at their hotel for the Thunder event. Wristbands are required to enter either tower of the hotel upon check-in, and each tower is PACKED with security guards. The hotel features several restaurants with great food that can be eaten inside, ordered to go for your hotel room, or ordered from room service. We were pleasantly surprised that seating was immediately available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Our favorite restaurant was Walker's Exchange. Seating was plentiful and the kitchen moved at a rapid pace to keep food flowing out to diners in quick fashion. As for Thunder Over Louisville, it's an event we will never forget. The planes were roaring loud, the drone show was patriotic, and the fireworks were unlike anything I've ever witnessed. I counted 4 finales that could have capped off the show, but the intensity just kept ramping up to an epic climax, complete with howitzers firing off both sides of the bridge. If you are looking to experience Thunder Over Louisville, there is no better vantage point than the Galt House.

I don't understand all of the low ratings for the Galt House Hotel. Maybe y'all need to stay in a…read moretwo-bedroom waterview suite, and then you might change your opinion. Because the two-bedroom waterview suite is dope. It's like a small condo. The bedrooms flank an enormous living room with multiple seating options, there's a kitchenette, a balcony overlooking the Ohio River, and just lots and lots of space to spread out. My family is composed of introverts who need to retreat to their own private spaces to recharge, and this hotel room afforded us this luxury. We could all be in the same room, but also out of each other's eyesight and earshot, like God intended. If you require time and space to not see or interact with your family members for extended periods, this is the hotel room to find that. A good fitness center in a hotel is important to me, and Galt House has a stellar one. I've never seen anything like it, really! It's called Club 360° Fitness Center, because it's located on the rooftop of the hotel and all of the fitness equipment is situated to face outward in a circle toward floor-to-ceiling windows, if that makes sense. You get panoramic views of Louisville from the gym -- it's pretty cool. And there are lots of cardio equipment options (including several ellipticals, which is important to me), free weights, and lots of other things. Galt House also has an outdoor pool that's open seasonally (although, no indoor pool, which is a bit of a bummer), and it's also centrally located to lots of restaurants, shops and museums. Parking is either valet or self-park, and self-park is a block or so away in a parking garage. Overall, this is an excellent hotel that puts you within walking distance of lots of amenities. And it's clean and comfortable, and a little bit fancy but not overly so. It was exactly what we wanted during our stay in Louisville.
